Terrific staff--everyone we spoke with at the hotel was friendly and very helpful. Warm and speedy welcome at check-in and from bell staff. Room was clean and comfortable.
We were disappointed in the Cafe Aquarius, which was understaffed and disorganized. Long waits to get seated, even though there were plenty of empty tables. Food and service were excellent our first night. Breakfast took way too long and arrived cold the first morning. Second night dinner was a fail...we ordered two Cobb salads (which were missing some key ingredients) and an appetizer. We waited a very, very long time to get our food. Appetizer was delayed...it landed on the table when we were halfway through our salads, so we politely told our server we no longer wanted it. She took it away, of course, and said, "Sorry, but food just comes out when it's ready." We saw her telling the manager what happened. He glared at us instead of coming by our table to apologize. We felt sorry for the staff...they are obviously overworked, doing the best they can. We waited in line for over 15 minutes to pay for our dinner one night, as there was only one cashier on duty.
I feel I should mention that my brother has been a restaurant owner for decades, so I am familiar with the challenges restaurants face. Even in this difficult environment, the Cafe Aquarius could do a lot better for its customers and staff.
