Disappointing Stay with Unexpected Charges –
I recently stayed at Tandem Hotel in Lisbon, and my experience was highly disappointing due to misleading charges and poor customer service.
I booked and paid in advance through Expedia, assuming that was the full cost of my stay. However, upon arrival, the front desk agent informed me that I owed additional taxes, which I expected. But then he claimed that Expedia had not charged me for the room at all and insisted I pay them directly. Caught off guard, but pleased it was less then Expedia quoted I provided my card.
Later, I discovered I had been charged twice—once by Expedia and again by Tandem . This was never disclosed upfront, and had I known, I would have never stayed there.
Upon returning to the U.S., I realized there was no way to dispute the charge directly with the hotel, making this even more frustrating.
