The Sonder looks designer and sleek but is furnished with cheap knockoffs, which was such a shame, as the finished and building itself is lovely.
Unfortunately, the staff were clueless when we arrived early, they neglected to tell the cleaning crew, so our room could be ready earlier (which is supposed to be an option) we waited hours and with some common sense we could have been booked in earlier and had an amazing first day. We offered to pay extra for this, but the communication and opportunity was missed. We’d flown in from Australia so this would have made such a huge difference for us.
The hotel itself is near to Paddington which is great to get around the city, and from the airport.
The room was generous, with lovely finishes, all the standard amenities were there except for a fridge.
We were on the top floor and had a lovely view of the church in the distance. Sunset and sunrise were beautiful here.
The review for this hotel would have been a lot higher had the staff been accommodating but as mentioned they were uninterested in helping us their guest as they were busy on their phones. This service seems more important than ever and during our stay they missed this bit entirely.
I love the idea of the Sonder brand I hope this was a bad day only. We will try them again but email them in advance and arrange for an early checkin even if we don’t need it.
