We recently stayed for four nights in an apartment-style hotel in the heart of Old Lyon- Citadines Lyon. On the positive side, the location was excellent—quiet yet very convenient for exploring the historic center. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was fair given the location. Merci for being so kind and nice.
However, the apartment itself left much to be desired. While functional, it was quite bland. The furnishings were extremely utilitarian, and the walls were bare—no artwork or even a simple photo of Lyon to give it some local character. For such a charming and vibrant city, the space felt surprisingly lifeless. Our room also had no view, which only added to the lack of atmosphere. The apartment seemed a bit worn and could benefit from a refresh to better reflect the spirit of the Historic Lyon.
With a few thoughtful touches and some aesthetic improvements, this could be a much more memorable place to stay. As it stands, it’s comfortable enough, but don’t expect much in the way of charm.
