“OK ish to stay with dogs. However the road to get to the property is terrible terrible terrible. We slipped off the Provincial sand road due to mud. “We had a marvellous time at Caracal Lodge. It was a wonderful away from it all experience. Magtree Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped even though there is no electricity, power being supplied by gas appliances, paraffin lamps and LED lighting. It was magical to wake up with views of the resident giraffe family as well as zebra, impala, horses and a pet pig! Outside there was a braai, fire pit in a lovely shaded area and a small pond. Exploring the 300 hectare game park there……

“We've booked a room that was supposed to fit 4 person (that was how it was marked on hotels.com). When we arrived we learned that the room is actually a 2 person room and we had to pay for another room (we bargained for a half price for a second one). The "original" room was nice and clean (although not very new) but the second one had some mold in it and was in need for a renovation. Other than that the staff was nice and we had a good sleep for a one night.”

“The physicality is breath taking! It is close enough to Johannesburg that a quick weekend getaway is doable without driving for untold hours before you reach your destination. This is quiet hideaway, and even though Wi-Fi availability is advertised, there is no cover in the accommodation that we used. Spotty Wi-Fi is available in the reception area. The approach roadway is bad! So no small cars as you need height or off-road ability, large cars are wide and are damaged by encroaching vegetation……
