Relax at this unique bohemian riverside getaway.
The cottage is on a quiet street on a large lot shared with the main house. Just East of the lot you have private access to the riverside.
Just 3 minutes from Downtown Melbourne which houses the Henegar Center for the Arts, the Melbourne Civic Theatre and a variety of shops, art galleries and restaurants. About 9 minutes from the closest beach access.
Light-sleepers should note that railroad tracks are within half a mile.

The two bedrooms are divided by a common bathroom. Each bedroom and the living room space have independent mini-split AC units for your comfort.

Guest Access/Interaction:
Guest may gain access to the house anytime after check-in with deadbolt code. The house is setup completely for guest use and everything in the house is accessible to guests with the exception of a locked laundry room utility closet. We provide self check-in so we will not meet in person unless the need arises. The listing is setup exclusively for guest use. We are just a message/call away if you need assistance or suggestions of things to do in the area!

Neighborhood:
Centrally located Old Florida neighborhood one mile south of Downtown Melbourne.

Other things to note:
For authorized pets we charge $20/night up to $500 per pet. Please contact us for approval.
We have a Mr. Coffee 6 cup traditional drip coffee maker.
The thermostat has a lower limit of 69 degrees to prevent the unit from freezing.

Cozy home, great location, well appointed

We were amazed by the great location and comfort of this cozy home. We had an easy walk along the river just out our front door. The home has a spacious, well-appointed, fenced in back yard that was perfect for our dog to play and great for us to hang out in. Minutes from shopping, dining and a short drive to the beach. Highly recommend!

Hidden gem in paradise

Enjoyed my stay. Beautifully decorated with a "Keys" theme. Pups loved the back yard lots of room to run around and play. Met the owner we watched our three pups play. Sandy and Sonic gave the area two paws up. Ocean air, gentle breeze off the beaten path. Pedro and Laurie are great hosts helping me with any question I had. If you would like a quiet relaxing get away you have found it.

Charming cottage

We enjoyed a short stay. Very cute and charming cottage. Owners were very responsive with questions. Easy checkin/checkout. Very clean and comfortable. Note this property is not on the river, which was kind of confusing due to some of the photos on the listing. You can take a short walk around the block which is nice but there is no river access (private property.) we took a day trip over the bridge and had. Really nice day on Indiatlantic beach.

It was a lovely cozy/charming little house. I was able to enjoy and get work done. I met the owner's who went above and beyond to my stay more enjoyable by providing resources and information. There is a train noise but it didn't bother me. I will rent the place again.

Work-ation get away

We needed a place to stay for a short 3 day work assignment. We decided to try VRBO as hotels/motels are a hassle. Melwood Cottage will absolutely not disappoint! Very tastefully decorated, very interesting books to read from local history to herbal gardening, surfing, etc. It is plenty roomy, very fresh and clean in a very quiet neighborhood. The kitchen is well appointed with utensils, cookware, all the basics plus extras. The main bed was comfortable and there is also a second bedroom with a day bed but we did not use that room. It is nice that they allow you to use the laundry although we did not need to. Don't hesitate or wait to book if you want a very charming home away from home get away!

Charming cottage is the right summary for this location

Very nice and relaxing. The House has been modernized in a very charming way. It keeps the old style of the area near the River , but is well equiped with air con and a good kitchen. Very quite (exept the train passing near by from time to time) and close to the City Center with very good restaurants. The beach is close and also very beautiful. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Very cute and cozy

I came here for a little getaway by myself and absolutely loved it. The house was so cute, clean, and comfortable. The hosts were responsive and checked in to see if I needed anything. I would definitely stay here again. The only negative was the train horns but nothing they can do about that.

Very cozy, hosts were super available - I didn’t have any issues, I just let them know when I arrived and left. I also inquired about extending my stay and I wound up not needing to but the y responded immediately. Great spot. Beds were comfy, AC frosty, it was great! Thanks!

Perfect Little Cottage!

This was our third time staying in this cute little cottage! We absolutely love staying there and we will again in the fall! There was one thing that blew our minds though, and this is just a little reminder for folks that stay in the Melbourne area... There was a rocket launch and we didn't know what all the shaking and banging noises were at first! Then disappointed that we didn't see it! We love it there!

Comfortable small house for a getaway

The house was neat and clean, easy to access. We enjoyed everything about it with the exception of the missing river views. The listing indicating “outdoor dining” with river views was deceptive and was a big reason we chose the house. Our family enjoys dropping a kayak in the river in the evening, sitting out and watching the kids paddle around and despite requesting information about the suitability for this, there was no confirmation or denial that it would work. It turns out, you can’t see the river and going to the area pictured in the listing seems invasive to the home in the front of the property. It just wasn’t what we expected from the listing. Otherwise, the house was fine - clean, well stocked, and worked for sleeping. We enjoyed the beaches nearby.
