All the staff were very friendly and welcoming! The hotel was only a few minutes walk to the beach and there were a variety of modest dining options on the beach or near the town square. The hotel had a food service and weekend bar service. We really enjoyed the pool area and spent some relaxing by the pool. We were picked up at the hotel to go on a fabulous guided canoe tour through the mangroves where we saw a large variety of birds including flamingos! The hotel staff helped us with the motel taxi transport to the tour site. Make sure you book a room with a window view. Thanks again to all the staff at this wonderful hotel. Bon emplacement, propre, cuisine , petit bémol nous avions réservé une chambre pour 4 mais au moment de se coucher nous nous sommes aperçu qu il y avait pas de drap pour le canapé des enfants. Nous avons du aller demander des draps et faire le lit !

Cash Only, but a good stay. Friendly staff.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had left a nightlight/charger in the bathroom and 2 days later after I realized we had left it, I was able to recover it. We decided to stay longer in Celestún than originally planned. We needed to change to a different hotel because Don Gonzalo’s does not take credit cards. Cash only. It does say this on hotels.com, but only if you click on more property information or read it in a review. Breakfast was good, but again be prepared to pay cash each day. There is only one ATM (@Willy’s on the square)that works for foreigners. The hotel is a short walk to the beach, not on the beach. The beds are a bit hard. Most restaurants are on the beach and only a few stay open past 6pm. Otherwise there were 2 restaurants we found on the square that were open past 6pm.

Beautiful little hotel. Very helpful & friendly staff. However, the road noise & roosters were loud. Not the hotels fault, just part of the experience. Very close to everything in the small village.

Clean hotel - good location

The staff were very nice and the room was clean. Just outside our hotel a family kept chickens. Sadly the rooster crowed most of the night. It was very difficult to sleep.
