Stayed one night. Room looked clean. I did my usual check of the bed linens and lifting the mattress as best I could to check for bed bugs. I always do this as well as wipe stuff down with Lysol wipes. It just makes me more comfortable. It looked fine. I went to breakfast the next morning and when I got back to the room I saw a bug on the comforter. Looking closely, I saw one more! Fortunately I had never put my suitcase on the bed. I took the suitcase into the bathroom and went through every item of clothing, even turning things inside out. I didn’t see any other bugs. I took photos, then took my stuff and went to the front desk and explained what happened and asked to be moved to a different room and floor. They immediately did and gave me an upgrade. In the new room, I got online with Expedia and told them what happened, and included the photo. I asked that the first night be refunded because I was really disturbed over seeing 2 bugs! Expedia called the front desk and said the head of housekeeping had looked and said they weren’t bed bugs. So Expedia took the hotel’s word and said they couldn’t do a refund. I then stopped by the front desk and was told it had been checked and they weren’t bed bugs. I just submitted the pics to Grok and Grok says they are bed bugs. Expedia gave me a $25 credit for the inconvenience but I’m convinced Room 236 could have bed bugs at the worst or carpet beetles at the least. Expedia should have refunded me as soon as they saw the photo.
