The closest metro station is Vittorio Emanuele, but we had some extra walking from Roma Termini station (about 15-20mins while carrying luggages), so as to avoid chaos in the metro in Rome. Just a few minutes walking distance from the Colosseum. We felt safe to walk around in the neighbourhood at night. We booked a one-bedroom apartment (with a sofa bed in the living room). “This was a well-priced property (for Rome anyway) in good walking distance to the Vatican, Metro, restaurants and Rome as a whole. The receptionist was incredibly friendly, delivered breakfast to the suite every day. Bed was large and very comfortable. Downside was the bathroom- mouldy, damp and the shower head leaked water from everywhere other than where it was meant to flow from..Having said this, the price was very reasonable in a very extensive city to stay in.”
