Built just for you, as a short term rental. This custom built Chalet is rich with elegant details, surrounded by NC game land and Pisgah National Forest. An amazing fusion of chic and rugged, this property is truly an outdoor lovers paradise. On the same gravel road are Fonta Flora bike/walking trail and the trail head of Shortoff. The Shack At Shortoff is minutes away from historic downtown Morganton, the pristine clear waters of Lake James, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Linville Gorge.

The Shack at Shortoff is inviting and cozy with wall to wall and ceiling to floor windows. Chill with a book in front of the fireplace, get your cook on with the fully stocked kitchen, or bring your outdoor game. The Shack covers it all...Or hangout in the adirondack chairs by the fire pit. Orrrrrr, grill and chill...

Guests will have the entire house to themselves.

Please know there is NO WiFi provided by us as we barely have a connection ourselves because of our rural location...WE ARE ON A WAITING LIST FOR STARLINK

We came up to visit daughter on what turned into a cold rainy windy weekend.But the “Shack” ( which is quite nice) was comfortable and cozy.We would recommend it to anyone desiring a quiet weekend in the Lake James area.

Todd and Pamela were great hosts. The place was everything you could want/need. You are close to a lot of activities, but far off the beaten path. The fire pit was my favorite. Nothing like staring at fire for a few hours after a long day exploring.

My husband and I were seeking some quiet respite after the recent loss of his mom. This tiny home provided for all our needs. It was very clean, comfortable and was beautifully decorated. We especially enjoyed using the kitchen. The dishwasher was a nice addition. Thank you Todd and Pamela for hospitality! We hope to come back in the near future.❤️

We stayed here for a few nights on the return leg of our wedding / honeymoon trip to Asheville and western NC. The location is situated perfectly - isolated enough for the quiet times but located near many outdoor activities and sites. The cabin / chalet is immaculate and well-furnished with many thoughtful details and decorations and the bed is super comfy. Will definitely stay here again!

A wonderful property that was beautifully situated in the NC mountains close to all sorts of things to do for the nature lover. The host was exceptional, attentive and kind. I highly recommend this place, and will be returning as frequently as my schedule allows. Don't miss out on this place!

We loved this cozy little place right near the Linville Gorge Wilderness and Shortoff Mountain. The hosts were friendly super responsive and even checked on us in passing during our stay. The property was clean and convenient for our itinerary. Would recommend and will stay here again!

From the moment I stepped into the Shack, it was evident how loving and kind Pamela and Todd are! I was greeted with fresh flowers and a personalized welcome!! They even took the time to reach out prior to my arrival to offer a welcome offering! The Shack is filled with beautiful adornments throughout. I absolutely adored being in the comforts of this space while also feeling as I was sitting in nature. It has an open floor plan that allows a lot of natural light and windows to admire nature. The firepit and Adirondack chairs were a pleasant addition as well while being able to admire the stars. Thank you guys for an amazing space for reflection and solitude! I will definitely be back!

My husband & I stayed here for our 25th Anniversary and had an awesome time. The little house had everything we needed to be comfortable, sleep well, eat well and relax. We loved the place inside and out, especially the big windows and view of the mountains, the fire pit and all the little details and decor they put into this place. It is so close to some great trails for hiking and biking, the lake and just a short scenic drive to town & other great spots. The owners are really nice and communicated with us well. We hope to be able to return to this area and stay here again soon.
