Front desk staff was not very friendly or hospitable. Treated us like we were an inconvenience. Man at the front desk kept saying I had reserved 2 rooms when I had only reserved 1. When calling the hotel prior to arriving to discuss the parking options the woman was again not very helpful or kind. Also called after our stay to get an emailed receipt for our stay and was given the 3rd degree. The hotel lobby was nice. Our room was just ok and the bathroom did not feel squeaky clean. The mirror lights did not work and the water when taking a shower kept going from very hot to very cold on a whim. Had to keep touching the gauge to regulate it!! Not only were guests in the hallway during the wee hours of the morning very noisy BUT the hotel STAFF did not keep their voices down! They just talked and talked very loudly during early morning hours when folks are sleeping!

IMPT! Nasty surprise: if you book thru Expedia, the hotel will charge a $45 nightly fee. This place rates a solid C. Asked for a "quiet" room (I know it's NYC ;-) and was placed on 5th floor across from the Fire Dept. Tub would not drain and some outlets did not work. Single King room set up for ONE person; no bedside table for 2nd person. No toiletries or any nice amenities, or mini frig. There was a coffeemaker. Crazed woman and homeless guy were allowed on our 5th floor. She was having some kind of psychotic episode. The bar/lobby was CLOSED to hotel patrons on a Sat night due to a private party(!) Be sure to ask for ur cont breakfast coupons at check-in; they will not offer them, and once in line at the coffee bar, I did not have my complementary voucher. Some hotel staff were nice and friendly. Great location. Good vibe. Ironic it's called the Arthouse bc the art on the walls was really poor quality, though original. Currently there is scaffolding covering front of hotel and sidewalk.

This hotel was in such a great, safe location with easy access to the subway taking you a few stops to get to Time Square. The rooms were spacious, clean and modern. However, the only negative was the noise, we could hear our neighbours coming home at 2am and talking for a long time, and lots of noise from outside (you are across the road from the FDNY home. Being such a minor negative, I can’t wait to stay here again!!!

The building is old and the rooms were very depressing and not like the pictures on expedia. We asked the three of our rooms were changed to new rooms because there was no view from the windows and they were too small with a bad shower. The staff is helpful and lobby is nice, but much of the view from the rooms is obstructed, and they look very old.

The building is old and the rooms show it. The three rooms that we stayed at the first day were small and extremely depressing, the shower had super low pressure, and there was no view from the windows. Very different from the pictures on expedia. We were all switched to different rooms after talking to staff and having to pay an upgrade. The lobby is nice with a kosher bar/coffee shop, and the staff is helpful and responsive. Most of the activities and restaurants we visited were not in the area, but there is transportation near by.

The entire building is in a bag. Instructions posted at front desk say to keep blinds closed Monday to Friday. This made the room dark and uninviting. May as well have had no windows. Room for two came with one Kuerig pod of coffee every day of our six night stay.
