The pictures of this hotel definitely make it look better than it is, the floor in the rooms is concrete so can get pretty cold and dirty, no rug in our room unlike the pictures. Sockets were hanging out of the walls a bit, great to have electric blinds but when the small window blind shares controls with the bigger blind, and it ends up just continuing to roll and slapping around it’s not great. Inadequate shower tray meant that water leaked across the room in to the bottom of the wardrobe unless you packed the corner with the bath mat, receptions response to that was to send an engineer (very quickly!) to take a look but the answer was “it just does that” so not great there.
Location is okay, I opted for staying out of midtown to avoid some of the noise which it was great for, at least 10/15 minutes to walk to a subway so again doable but not too practical. I think there’s a bus stop nearer but we didn’t get round to trying it. A few small restaurants and delis nearby and great location for Hudson Yards. We got a complimentary upgrade which was very much appreciated, and don’t be put off by the nightclub as there were events 2 of the nights we stayed and we couldn’t hear a thing on the 9th floor. Bed was extremely comfortable, nice to have a tv and 2 fresh bottles of water per day, shower takes a while to warm up (about 5 minutes) but once it’s on it’s good, just a shame that the rooms seem a bit run down and could do with the smaller things being refreshed.
