Being prepaid we reluctantly stayed at the Aura after reading some ugly reviews. BOY WERE THEY WRONG. We had a simply PERFECT stay at the Aura.
We needed to be in the Theater District, and to not spend $600+ a night. Space is precious in NYC. The Aura and its common spaces, reception, rooms, elevators - are all small. The building is probably 100+ years old. Of note - the elevators are exceptionally small, and with only 2 for guests (and one for housekeeping / staff) plan your time accordingly.
Our room was an executive king See photos. It was bright, modern, clean and of course, convenient - OK priced. If there was a complaint, it was there was not a lot of surfaces. Or a lot of drawers. There was a gym but we did not use it. It was the perfect solution and a great space for us.
We had no problems, checking in or checking out or getting our deposit back. We would highly recommend the Aria if you need to stay in Time Square and your goal is taking in the sights and entertainment. If you enjoy a boutique-y feel hotel, and location is extremely important to you. This is your place.
