2nd stay here. We loved it back in january so we came back. This time rooms with view to 45th street. 1st time very quiet, this time not so😁. But we loved it anyway. Would book again in future. Because it is perfect when you will go to Briadway shows!

Great location and staff, bed was not that comfortable but we are returning there in June to an upgraded room. One block off Broadway and we were at the front of the building with a window looking down on 45th, expect a bit of noise although it didn't keep us awake. Great character!

Love how close it was to times square, and the staff where very kind and helpful. However, i will say the hotel seems to need some updating. Hotel room cards had issues, the elevators went down, and then a extremely loud alarm went off at around 3 or 4 in the morning.

Just returned from a 2-night stay at Hotel St James and had a great experience. This is an older hotel with a lot of character and charm. However, if you’re looking for a lot of bells and whistles, this might not be for you. Our room with 2 full beds was neat and spacious (not huge but not cramped), with good closet space; the room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and the beds were comfortable and with crisp, clean bedding. It is an older building and the water pressure wasn’t great but that wasn’t a deal breaker, if I had to make a suggestion, I would recommend that they replace the shower heads with something that offers a wider spray as the current one is very small. Our room was at the front of the building so it was a little noisy at night, but it’s NYC, so it’s to be expected. There aren’t a lot of extras (no coffee maker in the room and no restaurant/room service onsite), but the price is very reasonable for Time Square, you can’t beat the location; easy access to the Broadway shows and subway stations. The real star of the show was Joey on the front desk, he definitely lived up to his reputation! He was friendly and welcoming, and so helpful. If you’re looking for a budget friendly stay in NYC, Hotel St James is definitely a great choice. I will definitely be back. 👍

Was a bit grossed out by the air conditioner covered in what could have been mold. I used disinfectant wipes because we had to use it on the warm days. That should have been done by the staff at the start of spring. The cleaners kept taking/hiding the extra pillows, we had to call down once to get some. Then on the last day we found where they were hid. Elevators kept breaking down or were full of staff members so people had to take the stairs or wait 20 minutes for an open space on one of them. But as usual the desk staff are great and the location is perfect.

Hotel molto carino veramente a due passi da Times Square. Nonostante la zona centrale, la notte è molto silenzioso. Le camere sono spaziose ed eleganti. Il personale cortese, disponibile e anche divertente! Giusto un paio di pecche: la difficoltà ad entrare/uscire con due passeggini, visti i 3 gradini all'ingresso e l'assenza di rampe accessibili attualmente, e infine la stanza in po' fredda con spifferi che sembrano entrare dalle finestre anche se ben chiuse. In ogni caso, vista la posizione ed il prezzo è un'ottima soluzione!

The place badly needs some TLC in the way of painting, decoration etc. No tea or coffee making facilities in room or elsewhere and TV didn't work properly, not that I came to NYC to watch TV. Even a chair in the room would be good, though I realise not much space. But staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was great.

If you need a premium location to Times Square and just a place to lay your head while you’re enjoying the city during the day this is the place. But it’s an old place and very out dated. Very basic… bathroom was inconveniently small, hallways and elevators are very narrow and bed was mediocre comfort… but it’s clean and staff was friendly. The deli right next store was gold!

The front desk person, I'm sorry I forgot his name, I remember he recommended Juniors Cheesecake, and it was so good. Me and my mom had a great time in New York, the place is beautiful and clean. It isn't as updated like other hotels, but it is worth it if you really are more of adventuring and exploring the city rather than staying in the hotel all day.
