The hotel rooms are comfortable, well apportioned, and the staff was friendly and responsive. It was clean and well maintained. There is a continental breakfast in the mornings, and the hotel was surprisingly quiet.
The only concern for us was location-related. Although we felt reasonably safe our entire stay, this hotel sits close to both a major juvenile detention facility and and a police station. The neighborhood is economically disadvantaged and can be pretty rough. If you can hang with the neighborhood, there are a lot of pluses. It is less than 2 blocks from the subway, which will allow you to travel around the NYC metro inexpensively. There are also several neighborhood restaurants - the Peruvian one is particularly good - and a small grocery store where you can pick up necessities for reasonable prices. There is also a delightful boba tea place right next door, and a Dunkin' across the street for your caffeine needs.
