The staff at the San Carlos Hotel were phenomenal throughout our trip. They were always up front to greet us when we left the hotel and when we returned and were willing to help with anything we needed from luggage assistance to restaurant recommendations to hailing us a taxi. Our room was spacious and clean and we were only a few minutes walk from major attractions or subway stations. The next time we are in NYC, we will definitely stay here again, cannot say enough good things about this hotel and their exceptional staff.

Room was neat, large for 2 people, and had great water pressure in the shower. Best price for the area it’s in! I will be coming back 100%. Staff was so friendly. There is a breakfast spot right across the street which was convenient and so many nice restaurants and cafes just minutes away.

Appt 1604: Felt misled as the hob shown in the kitchen was not connected owing to contravention of fire regulations. Only cooking facility was a small microwave for which there were no instructions. Also, had to request provision of a kettle. No plug for the kitchen sink (we provided our own). Kitchen sink drained very slowly. Only sharp knife was a very small pen knife which just about managed to slice a tomato. No bread knife, or cutting board, so even making sandwiches was tricky.

It lives up to its “small boutique” designation with 18 floors but only up to 8 rooms per floor that are very nicely appointed. We were on the 17th floor in a deluxe queen room that had a nice desk, very comfortable bed, larger than many mini-fridge, a microwave, coffee maker with great coffee and even plates, bowls, silverware, glasses and cups. Perfect for warming up leftovers from all of the great restaurants that surround the hotel. The staff were great and very helpful. Housekeeping was fantastic and left us 4 fresh bottles of water each day. The location in Midtown was perfect with subway stops to uptown and downtown only about a block away and with Central Park a walkable distance as well as Grand Central, Rockefeller Center, the Museum of Modern Art, and St Patrick’s very nearby. Almost a perfect location in NYC at an affordable price. We will be staying there again.

Great place to stay, would stay again. Only issue we had was when we reserved we understood that there was a morning breakfast area with cereals, eggs, toast and coffee, however that was not the case. However with that shortfall or misunderstanding on our part, the San Carlos is an excellent place to stay and we highly recommend the hotel.
