The dark-skinned man who assisted us during check-in was racist. It was just my partner and me we’re both young, 21 and 22 years old and we had come for a weekend trip to celebrate my 22nd birthday. I forgot the man’s name, but he made no effort to help us. We had just arrived in Canada and hadn’t had a chance to exchange currency yet, as we came directly to the hotel to drop off our things before doing so. At the time, we only had US dollars and Visa cards, which we had already used at a different location in Canada without any issues. However, this man told us we couldn’t pay because he needed to process the payment in Canadian dollars. At other places, we were always asked whether we wanted to pay in USD or CAD, so it didn’t make sense. We only needed to pay for parking the room was already reserved. On top of that, we were given a different room than the one I had paid for. I would never stay at that hotel again, especially when there are so many others with better service. I paid with my hard-earned money and expected to be treated with respect it’s not like I was trying to get anything for free. Thank you.
