Disappointing Thanksgiving Getaway
Our VRBO experience over the Thanksgiving holiday fell short of expectations. The initially agreed-upon pet policy was changed after the cancellation date, causing frustration. Practical issues persisted, such as a malfunctioning downstairs bathroom sink drain and the absence of paper towels and dish rags. The kitchen presented cleanliness challenges, with dirty dishes and utensils, as well as floors that retained dirt, hair, and trash.
Storage in the fridge/freezer was hindered by missing shelves, and the limited supply of essentials like towels and washcloths proved inconvenient. The diluted hand and dish soap raised hygiene concerns, and the kitchen knives posed a safety hazard due to dullness or bending. The unkempt backyard and the absence of an advertised sofa bed in the living room further marred our stay.
Maintenance issues extended to appliances, as the broken dial on the dryer rendered it unusable. Surprising discoveries, such as dried lemons on the master bedroom windowsill & mold growth on living room windows, added to our dissatisfaction. Each bathroom supplied only one roll of toilet paper, & the questionable quality of furniture, including an unstable table and a precarious barstool, raised safety concerns. To top it off, we were dismayed to find dirty linens, further diminishing the overall quality of our stay.
Overall, we were left w/ disappointment highlighting the need for improved communication, cleanliness, & maintenance standards in future VRBO stays.
