Amenities were good for the kids but the room itself was not. The beds were very hard, the shower had sand and dirt all in it, bathroom walls were gross and yellow, looked like room had not been cleaned from previous people

The location for this property was great with easy access to the beach. Walk out the back door and there is a 50 yard walkway and you are on the beach. There was a rinse off area so you can get the sand off when you come back. The pool and bar/restaurant between the building and beach were convenient and we ate at the outdoor restaurant twice and the food and service were good both times. We also visited the snack shop in the atrium a few times and it was reasonably priced for what it was. The amenities were great but very dated feeling. The hot tub seemed like it was original to the building in 1930 - probably not, but it seemed old. The indoor pool was large and the outdoor oool and kiddie pool were what you would expect. I think everything was clean, but it all was dingy due to age. The pool gate broke several times during our visit, we saw it being worked on but it was hit and miss most of the time if it would work. There was another gate to use so it was more of an inconvenience. The hotel lobby area had a very overwhelming air freshener scent. All the staff we encountered were nice and helpful, very quick to help when we needed more bedding late at night. There was an activity schedule but I only saw one day of activity. They brought out the limbo stuff but never set it up. I don’t know if you have to ask for those things to happen. Overall it was a good stay for our 4 day trip. The area was fairly quiet and our sliding door did a great job blocking sound from the pool.

Both pools were absolutely disgusting! How is it that water parks can keep their pools sparkling clean but this hotel cannot. Poor management!!

I love the location of the property. I've stayed here the past 3 years. Being so close to the beach is a major perk. However, this time I was a little disappointed. The bed sheets had stains and the shower had rust stains. Another major issue is the elevator situation. You shouldn't have to wait 15-20 minutes to gp upstairs.

I was here almost 20 yrs ago & it is the same. I do not mean that in a good way. So many things are outdated. First you have to constantly connect to the wifi every 6 hrs?? Thankfully it worked ok while we were there. They had an LG tv but it wasn’t a smart tv, the staff I asked didn’t even know what a smart tv was!! I know we are on vacation but at night we unwind watching a movie after a long day and they have cable but you cannot stream& we had a ps5 but it wouldnt connect bc it wasn’t a smart tv.. I’ve been to many hotels and motels and no matter the type you stay in, you can always stream, it’s 2025! I paid extra for an ocean front view and we got the 2nd floor.. out of 22 floors! I mean yes we could still see the beach and it was nice seeing the tiki bar & hearing the music so we got used to it and enjoyed it but paying so much extra for ocean view and the ocean is being mostly blocked. If I’m going to get that low of a floor it shouldn’t have been as expensive. Also they have mini fridges! I knew this booking so that was my fault but for a week if we wanted to put anything in the freezer forget about it lol. When booking I only saw options for these types of rooms with no extra bedroom or full fridge etc so it was a small room but it was all I could see on their site so I didn’t think there were other options but I’ve been here in the past so I know they have bigger rooms etc. other than that the staff were always friendly & helpful & good drinks& food by tiki bar

Property was ok if you liked music from 8am until 8pm. Our bathroom ceiling leaked over the shower, our balcony door did not lock, and smelled like weed 24/7. House keeping missed a lot behind the beds from glow sticks to food. The DJ was great, the view was nice but the fire alarm was pulled at 12:30 am and then it went off again the next day around 1pm. The older lady working in the gift shop was my fav. She was very welcoming and friendly. The pool/hot tub was well kept and the sauna was really nice. Upon check in the front desk staff turned their nose up when they saw I booked through Expedia. Unsure if all the rooms were like ours or we were given a room with issues since we booked through Expedia. For what I paid with all the concerns/issues, we will not be returning.

Me and my family stayed here, and the ocean view was amazing! The beds were so uncomfortable, and the indoor pool was closed for 2 days of our stay. My kids were pretty upset about that. They also ran out of s'more's kits because they had no chocolate. That was unfortunate, so we had to walk to the food lion across the street for our own stuff for smores. The 1800 reef restaurant was absolutely horrible. Horrible service and horrible food the French onion soup looked and tasted like it came out of a can and someone slapped a piece of unmelted cheese on top of it. Overall the hotel it’s self and the location was wonderful we loved the beach.

We booked this hotel last minute and never having stayed before. Found it very comfortable and the kids loved it. The ice-skating was a bonus and you’re right on the beach and the beach was not overcrowded.

There are so much that i love about the Carousel, but I do have 2 complaints about our recent stay. The indoor pool was closed the entire time. To my understanding, it was a mechanical issue, but there was no sign on the door to let people know it was closed. A sign would've prevented the multiple questions throughout the day, every day. The second complaint is the game room by the pool. Those machines need some maintenance because half of them didnt work and there were 3 machines that took my credits but wouldn't let us play. My kids were quite disappointed and the front desk can't even do anything about the machines. I called the number on the card for assistance, but that was no help either. Other than those 2 things, we had a wonderful experience in our 3 night stay. Theres a heated outdoor pool that we enjoyed and we went to Jolly Rogers to make up for the games. We come to OC at the same time every year and wouldn't even think about staying at another hotel.
