Having stayed at this hotel for a second time, its primary draw remains its undeniably convenient location, particularly as part of a service stop. This makes it a practical choice for those on the move. Unfortunately, the overall state of the rooms continues to be a significant letdown.
My first stay revealed rooms that were noticeably tired and in need of updating. Thankfully, on this occasion, I was moved to a room that had clearly undergone some modernisation, which was a welcome improvement. However, it's important to note that the standard of rooms appears to be inconsistent, and the lack of a lift could pose a challenge for some guests.
On-site parking is available, which is a plus, but be warned that the car park is often busy, and the spaces are surprisingly small, even for a mid-sized modern vehicle. Furthermore, being situated within a service stop means that the adjacent food options come with typical motorway service prices, and there are no alternative dining choices within easy walking distance.
The contents of the rooms also seem to vary. While my previous stay included an iron and ironing board, this time the ironing board was absent. The shower flow was also rather weak on both occasions. This time, the shower cubicle had a shower curtain, suggesting the glass door may have been out of order for some time, although it was still perfectly functional.
