My favorite place!

The Perfect Getaway

This property was so incredible. The house is beautiful, well equipt, comfortable and clean. This is the only VRBO I have rented that had everything I needed in the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. The property is stunning, the location is perfect. I can't wait to stay here again!

Easy as a Sunday morning

Our vacation to the Harbor Springs area was a perfect mix of sight seeing and relaxation. The "relaxation" was in abundance at The Potato House. We could adventure during the day then come "home" to a beautiful place on gorgeous property with ammenties to fit our needs. The horses nearby added to the calm and wonder for our daughters. I have 3 "girls" with 2 on the autism spectrum and I would find them engaging with the horses. Once home, I was told the horses were already missed. Such a unique and wonderful experience! Some hiccups but overall okay

So one night I took the windex and paper towels under the sink and cleaned a spot on the table for crafts. I was stunned that the paper towel had my handprints in dirt on the side I used to clean. The cleaning service missed some key spots including the kitchen island as well. There were a couple listed amenities missing that we wanted like a hair dryer and DVD player. After some texts and a call we got the hairdryer from the owner who was nice enough to drop one off. Outstanding is the horse farm next to the property. Peace and quiet in abundance. Also kudos to thinking about everything we could possibly need such as flashlights by our beds and setting up fresh firewood in the fireplace. Fix the cleaning service and this is a higher rating.

ACCESS INCONVENIENT

The setting is wonderful and our dog loved the horses. The reason for the three star overall rating is the inconvenient access to the main level. To go from the garage to the main level, one must go up a flight of stairs, out the door to the front porch, turn and go through the main entrance and then down a flight of stairs. This makes taking coolers and luggage to the main level extremely inconvenient. Also, our dog doesn’t do stairs. We had to take him out through the sliding doors to the patio – which is quite wonderful – and then one person had to lock the sliders and then go back up the stairs, into the garage, down the stairs, and drive around and get the dog. A door cut through from the garage to the main level would have made our stay much better.

Lots of napping

We took a very relaxing vacation here in spring of 2021. Everything that has been described and written about the property, in terms of how wonderful and quiet it is, is quite accurate. Great place for 2 kids and for our dog. And it's a 5 - 10 minute drive from town and grocery store, so you are close to everything you need. Their COVID precautions and attention to cleanliness was very much appreciated. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Skiing Weekend

We loved this house. It is so pretty, and very comfortable. We loved all the little sitting areas in the house, and enjoyed sitting in front of the fire in the evenings. It was a perfect break, and the skiing was also awesome, as was dinner at Teddy Griffin's.

Potato House Review

Really enjoyed our stay, the location and accommodations were very nice. My only suggestion is they need at least one more TV. I probably would not rent again with kids because kids want to play video games or watch their own thing and with just one TV that doesn’t work. Our sons probably would have brought a TV if we had known there was only one TV.

Ski Trip

Took a family ski trip to Boyne Highlands/Nubs Nob over Christmas Break. Lovely setting on working horse farm less than 15 minutes from the slopes. Wonderful history in the property and the owners did a fabulous job of keeping the historic charm while providing the modern amenities renters have come to expect. Everything we needed was in the house. Exceptionally clean property, easiest of access to the property, and the property managers were readily available on Christmas Eve when we had a mishap with an interior door. Grocery store is within 5 minutes as well as dining in charming Harbor Springs. I would highly recommend the property to anyone looking for a northern Michigan family getaway. What a fabulous time!
