“We were met on the ferry by chance by the lady that owned the house that we were staying in, she led us directly to the property and showed us round the house. The house was exactly as described, clean, tidy and very well equipped. The lady's husband worked on the ferry and on one occasion he phoned his wife and asked her to make sure we were going to arrive on time. The whole experience was perfect.”

“The photos don’t do Richard and Janet’s place justice. It is a lot bigger than the photos suggest and tastefully furnished. I enjoyed having the recliner chair after a day walking. It was great to have the washing machine and a clothesline instead of having to use the dryer. The accommodation is right on Loch Swannay and we had lovely sunsets of an evening. Close to Skara Brae and the other major attractions. We would definitely stay there again if we return to the Orkneys. ”

“The island and cottage were exactly what we needed. There was peace and quiet, which allowed us to slow down and breathe. The local residents we met were friendly and welcoming. The island needs a little investment but we really hope mass tourism doesn't ruin its tranquility.”
