Our recent stay at the Ocean Maya Royale with a group of ten from June 14th to 21st was a mixed experience that left us feeling somewhat disappointed.Upon arrival, the check-in process was lacking. There was no orientation about the resort, which left us confused about where to book dinners at the specialty restaurants, the entertainment schedule, and even how to get our luggage to our rooms. Unlike other resorts we've visited, there was no assistance with our bags, which felt quite odd.The first night, we dined at the buffet and were disheartened by the limited and unusual food options. The next day, I went to the lobby around 1 PM to inquire about restaurant bookings. I visited the "privilege" office, where I was informed it was too late to make reservations. Despite expressing our frustrations about the lack of guidance, we were told that someone in our party should have been informed about the booking process. Unfortunately, my friend’s mom had to take charge, and despite her efforts to secure dinner reservations each morning, our options were severely limited to either 6 PM or 9 PM due to our group size.On Friday, we made a reservation for the Mexican restaurant at 9 PM. However, later that evening, my husband and I decided not to go because we were tired. When my friend's mom checked to see if they could get in earlier, they had no reservation for our party at all, leaving them scrambling to find dinner at the buffet instead.

We very much enjoyed the hotel from the food, the room, the grounds, and the staff. Special shout out to Kendall and the entertainment staff! They all do a great job. keeping activities going and getting the guests involved. Kendall was amazing! We loved participating and watching him at all activities... he is so good with the guests, including everyone, making fun with people, and remembering names. Bravo Kendall!!

Our stay was great. The room was clean. We stayed in 802, we had partial view of ocean. Housekeeping was great. All the staff were very nice and helpful. I have a sea food allergy, they always told me what to stay away from or ensure to cook my dish separately. The nightly entertainment was great. Loved that activities are planned past 9pm. The night time foam party was so much fun. The day time pool parties are fun. The staff were so much fun, especially Ken. He is so funny and kept everyone involved. Aqua fitness was my favorite. The food was ok. But that's what I normally expect from a resort. Some things were better than others. My husband loved the rack of Lamb and the steaks at the buffet. I loved how the chilaquiles were made fresh per order and don't let them sit there to get soggy. In all we had a great time, we will definitely return.

We LOVED our stay at the Ocean Maya Royale! The food and drinks were delicious, and the service & hospitality was some of the best I’ve had in the Playa Del Carmen area. Food was good across the board, but our standouts were the teppanyaki at Sookoso, and Italian night at La Hacienda! Shoutout to our servers Carlos and Yovannetti for being so hospitable and going above and beyond! The entertainment team was so friendly with such positive energy, and made our time at the resort a blast! We loved chatting with and getting to know our new friends Kenndell, Moises, Viri and Victor. Aqua aerobics with Kenndell was one of our favourite activities— he’s so much fun and knows how to teach a great class! We will absolutely be coming back.

Star was very friendly except one women in the privileged area was very rude, they treat you like a second class guest when you don’t upgrade to the privilege level we had a hard time getting into the tepenyaki restaurant until we complained then they got us in rooms where very comfortable, had a smell to the resort but I think it was the sea weed problem, they where working from early morning to night to try and clean it up so not to bad of a vacation

The resort was top notch with beautiful landscaping, extremely friendly staff, clean rooms and great food options. The beach was sadly overrun with Sargassum seaweed which made the beach unusable. I strongly suggest you book for between October and April to have the full experience of this amazing resort

To start off the front staff greeted us with a welcoming smile and wete pleasant. The guest services lady at the front made checking in easy. We were located close to the pool which was nice but was a little bit off a walk to the buffet. This is where i feel the resort can do better on as food was often very bland or overcooked because of sitting in the heat lamp for too long. Waut staff in the buffet aint always nice resulting in us feeling like we were a bother whether getting food or drinks. This trip was for my birthday, so one thing the resort did was we were greeted by cake (with happy birthday and a bottle of wine as a welcoming gesture.) Now, i know all guest have paid quite a bit of money f9r a good time at an adults only reaort but one thing to mention was they had ahut down music right at 12:00 am just when some peope have atated to enjoy the vibe. Adult resort felt more like family resort with the this curfew oh getting the signal nights over. I have been to numerous resorts and this wasnt a thing at an adults only resort, also to mentioned that near the pool area there was a pizza making station but was only 11am to 5pm and the mexican restaurant 5-6pm to 10pm. Im compliant was that in order to get a late night snack you literially had to walk from the pool/beach front area to the main lobby to go to the sports bar. I feel this they could improve on as most resorts will have a late night snack bar near the pool area. My birthday was not great due the lack
