A beautiful, unique property. Our bedding was comfortable, the decor gorgeous and our room spacious and clean…except for the previous occupant’s food in the mini fridge. I would have preferred a restaurant on site (Finch was only open Friday and Saturday for limited hours) but we did get nice coffee and some pastries in the gorgeous lounge in the mornings. Everywhere was walkable including Powell book store, nice restaurants and shops. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would recommend to friends!

My wife and I have stayed at Royal Sonesta a couple times so far, first time after our elopement, and will continue to choose it as the number one hotel to stay at for Portland or any of the surrounding areas. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, the Finch on Fifth restaurant is next level amazing, valet parking is quick and easy, rooms are extremely clean and huge, and prices are very affordable for the luxury you get. The prices fall in line for what typical mid-range large company hotels charge, but at this hotel you get the full 4.5 star experience for the same pricing. Honestly this should be rated as a 5 star hotel. Shout out to Karla for her professionalism, helpfulness, and kindness all while jumping between both the front desk to check us in and Valet! This hotel gets a 100 out of 10 score from us, and staying here is always a highlight of traveling to Portland for us.

Beautiful hotel inside and out. Friendly and attentive managers and front desk with personal touch making you feel at home. Tastefully decorated front lobby and rooms, very unique and chic ambiance. Spacious rooms with high ceilings, well decorated. Most comfortable beds, pillows and linens. Rooms are clean and neat, very upscale feel. Spacious gym with modern equipment with fresh towels neatly wrapped at each station. I go out of my way to stay at this hotel when I am in Portland. This hotel should be replicated in every city. Most definitely 10 out of 10.

We stayed here for our wedding night after our local wedding. I've stayed at a lot of the hotels downtown Portland after a fun night out and my experience at the Royal Sonesta was one of the absolute best. We booked a king suite, the price was very reasonable, the decor was very fun and unique and the room was spacious. We hadn't mentioned that it was our wedding night but the concierge asked as we were heading out to our reception. When we returned we found a lovely note and a bottle of champagne in our room. It was truly a magical experience and we might have to make a tradition of it.

I loved the theme of the hotel and the staff was very friendly and inviting. I think the bathrooms could use an update. The floor was also creaky and you can tell the hotel is getting old. There is parking that you can find on spot hero off of alder street that I paid $24 for for both days AND in and out privileges. I definitely recommend that over the hotel valet. The destination charge was not warranted as the snack and drink choices they give you are very slim and they also did away with the happy hour.

What an oasis this hotel was for our long weekend in Portland. In a world of beige and bland hotel rooms, The Royal Sonesta was a breath of fresh air. On paper nothing in the rooms should match, but somehow it all just works, and is a feast for your eyes. Comfortable beds, the most amazing staff (thank you Owen! ♥️) , who bend over backwards to be helpful, friendly and accommodating. Seriously, they have literally found the very best people!! We may need to just move in! Ha!
