The house has a full wrap-around deck with outdoor furniture available for guest use. There is a brick patio with a fire pit off of the deck and a wood burning stove in the living room. The cabin contains a full kitchen with full refrigerator/freezer, ice maker, dishwasher, full sized washer/dryer, coffee maker, coffee provided.

The historic Western Pacific Railroad Museum is a tourist draw in Portola. which is located on the Middle Fork of the American River.
