I was prepared for a cheap motel, but it was really unpleasant. While superficially clean, the smells were terrible - vomit, old trash, smoke, body odor, you name it. I thought I was being picky until the three people who were also at the hotel (and one visitor too!) all independently mentioned the variety of awful smells outside, in the common areas and in the room. The bed was very uncomfortable, lumpy and hard like only an old very cheap mattress can be. We only interacted with two staff members, and one was completely incompetent at checking us in. Everyone had to show i.d., even my son who was just helping us get luggage to the room. We wondered if perhaps there is a prostitution problem at the motel? The other just ignored me and walked out of reception to go talk to someone else. Outside the motel, the grounds smelled like fresh cigarette smoke so either there was no designated smoking area or no supervising the outside. It was the second most awful cheap motel experience I've had in fifty years, and I travel alot. I'm glad my kids are grown because imagining a toddler on those carpets makes my skin crawl.
