A lovely will maintained farm house on the prettiest setting! Located close enough to the beach and lighthouses yet isolated and quiet for a family weekend to unplug and play! We will be back- thank you for sharing with us!

Fantastic July 4th!

The stay was great!! The pictures don't do the property justice as it was better than we could have expected. It was perfect for 12 friends getting away in their 30s. We planned to go to the beach but enjoyed the river so much we didn't bother leaving. The fire pit is a bit away from the house but that turned out to be great due to allowing early birds to not be interrupted by laughter and light music. We ran out of propane for the grill and Tammys husband came by within 5 minutes with a new tank! Would absolutely stay there again.

Perfect setup for a fishing vacation

Plenty of room and everything was clean & tidy. We stayed for a fishing trip and the space was great with tons of parking for 3 boats. The scenery is beautiful, I would definitely rent again

Family Getaway

The Mill House was wonderful place for out family getaway. A great location for day trips and very relaxing when just hanging out. Fishing with the granddaughters was also a highlight. Thanks for a great stay.

Spent a week of family time, great experience

The property is beautiful, there is a lot of space to spread out and do different activities. There were no deal breakers, but a couple of surprises . PROs: Tammy is the greeter and communicated well before, during and at the end of the trip. Most anything I texted her was answered quickly. The house had a great layout (better than pictures can explain) to gather for eating, playing cards, putting together puzzles or other board games. The deck is fabulous and underrated in the description. In addition, there are deck chairs, a picnic table, and chairs near the fire pit to use around the yard. An upstairs bedroom had a balcony that was a great place for mom/dad to sit with the 1year old when he was tired and crabby, and they could still hand out with the rest of us. The fishing was spectacular, enough for us to do a fish fry over the open fire pit. Two docks was a nice touch, because he continued to fish 'in sight" while we cooked the fish. We made a day-trip to Mackinaw City and crossed Mackinac Bridge, then down the street to the Mystery Valley and hiked a total of 4 miles. We also brought extra kayaks so we could all kayak and canoe at the same time ( the water was low to the left of the mill house, but navigable), and made a charcuterie board to nibble and relax on the deck. Cons: People came/left the property more than we were comfortable. Tammy told us to shut the gate, but before we did, some people who were renting the space for a future wedding would just drive in the property to check it out. We didn't like this because the kids were free to roam without risk - unless these people were driving in...so if you stay here, be sure to shut the gate everytime someone leaves for ice etc.) Also, for as nice as everything was outside, there were some surprises inside. These were not deal breakers, but unusual for comparably priced vacation homes we've stayed at in the past.. The hot water gets EXTREMELY hot in the sink, potentially burn hot. Also, the towels situation felt a bit skimpy for a week long stay. For example, one room had a family and three kids and not enough towels for everyone. When I asked for more, Tammy did tell me some were in the laundry room, but we only found one, and all towels were aged and worn. We though the Mill tour was part of the rental, but it was a $5 chg pp, only two were interested in paying for that extra, and somehow I didn't get a follow up to two texts about scheduling for Thursday morning.

Country Getaway

The property is beautiful, the photos do not do the place justice. Very spacious rooms for an older home. Air conditioning units all worked great in the summer heat. My family and the dogs enjoyed the river. The dogs swam and the boys fished from the dock. Big yard to enjoy with fire pit. Well stocked with kitchen utensil, appliances and dishes. Clean and well maintained! The only complaint I have is the property manager is very present during the duration of your stay. She gave us a full tour of the house, which I’ve never experienced with a rental before. Some people might enjoy this or find it charming, however I did not care for it. My entire family felt as though we were being watched. She stopped by to “see how we were doing” while grilling and enjoying the patio. She poked her head into the grill to see what we were cooking up. It felt invasive. The property manager lives up the road and her kids were always riding bikes by. They also have a rental cabin on the other side of the river and they threw a party. The property manager texts me with 5 minutes notice that they are going to light of fireworks and wanted to let us know because dogs don’t usually like them. Blew my mind! Yes, that’s correct! Our dogs are terrified of fireworks. Here we are in the quiet country with 5 minutes notice. The house is great. The property is beautiful. Just be prepared for a highly involved property manager.

Family hub and gathering spot

We were in town for a family wedding in Presque Isle over the July 4th weekend. We were all so comfortable in this well-stocked home and charmed by the entire setting and historic mill. Extended family came to visit one evening and enjoyed a cozy bonfire. We also loved the private tour of the old mill. Tammy was very welcoming and provided tons of information to make our stay as amazing as possible. LOVED it!!

Excellent stay!

When I pulled in it was dusk. Some lights where left on and it was such a beautiful and inviting sight. Rooms clean, beds comfortable, and was very satisfied with the experience. We’d rent again!

Beautiful Property

The view is stunning. We definitely enjoyed checking everything out. I could see us having a reunion, or other event at this location. The owner and manager are both friendly and helpful. We loved the dining area. Plenty of space for family meals and game night. There were minimal issues: The house is home to an army of ladybugs. There was no wifi, despite being listed as an amenity. That was mostly an issue for the teenagers. It was a little frustrating trying to get in touch with the property manager. Overall, I'd say it was a good experience.

Birthday for Mom

Our stay was awesome! We had so much fun in this beautiful house playing games and watching football. The endless wood for the bonfire pit was great! We loved hearing the river rushing. The nature preserve down the road had some cool geological features. We were so grateful to be able to bring our furry family along too. All in all a great stay, thank you for hosting us!

Great home and property

We stayed at the Mill Pond home over Thanksgiving. It was a quiet, relaxing and enjoyable stay. Communication with the host was great and Tammy was on site to welcome us and show us around. We weren't sure how the kitchen would be stocked for meal prep. Since we were preparing a Thanksgiving dinner we brought some things from home just in case we needed them. It was not necessary - the kitchen already had everything we needed! The home was built in the 1930's. It is charming and very well maintained. There was a lot of room for everyone to spread out. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed walking around. It was nice to be able to bring our dogs - they loved the bit area to explore off leash while on our walks and they even a dip or two in the river. The Amish bakery up the road was a plus! We ate well! :-) Great place and we would definetely stay there again.

Reunion at Hemlock Hills

Had a wonderful time at Hemlock Hills! The property is picturesque in every direction! We went kayaking down the river; it was so very beautiful and peaceful at every bend. The house was perfect and reminded me of my childhood visits with my grandparents at their farmhouse. We enjoyed our family visit with a barbecue and bonfire. Kitchen was well stocked and beds were comfortable. We fished from the docks, watched the river flow from the swing, had a couple bonfires and watched multiple shooting stars! Tammy responded very quickly to our questions and was a wonderful host! Hoping to be back next year!

Perfect family getaway!

Perfect family getaway. Beautiful scenery. Lots of yard for the kids to run around and play. The house was fully stocked and wonderful. Very clean and great water pressure in the showers. Gorgeous deck to sit and chill. We had several meals out on the deck. Host was great to work with. Lots to do in the nearby towns. Wish we could of stayed longer...

Exceptional Experience!

Tammy and Mitch were amazing hosts. The house and property are in great shape. This is definitely a must if you want to get away and have plenty of options of things to do. We had a wedding getaway vacation at this property and the pavilion, along with the bunk bed rooms and the house are well kept. We will be staying here again in the future.

A great northern Michigan getaway!

Our family had a great time at the Mill House, spending a few days to celebrate the new year. The kids and dogs were able to play in the snow and hike. A great winter retreat! They do have WiFi, but it's a weak signal if many people are on it and my T-Mobile didn't work well. Bring DVDs and board games, no cable tv so we couldn't watch the Bowl Games but we entertained ourselves by reading and playing outside. The bedrooms fit our family of 8 perfectly and plenty of seating at dinner. They do have a grill and crockpot, plus a well stocked kitchen which was nice. Tammy met us to check in and available if we needed anything. Super nice! We'd definitely come back!

Excellent property!

The Mill House was clean, comfortable, well stocked and cozy. Tammy was very friendly and informative. We would definitely stay again! Be aware that Wifi is spotty and there is no cable /internet or local tv stations. (We were hoping to watch the Lions game for Thanksgiving) However, there is lots to do without it! The property is incredible. We enjoyed walking around and our dog loved the space to run and explore. The only disappointment was that the walking trails are not accessible from the Mill House and another guest was staying on the property with the trails so we couldn't use them. That wasn't clear to me when we booked. There were lots of things to see and do in the area and the property and house are peaceful and a perfect get away. I highly recommend!

Good house at nice / beautiful location

We were unlucky that it was raining all day that we stayed but location is awesome. There’s lake with kayaks that we can enjoy and beautiful outdoor fireplace. Will plan to stay again.

Summer Getaway

Overall a wonderful and amazing break from city life. The grounds are huge and immaculate, Extremely private And nearby Things to do and food. Mitchell and Tammy Were so accommodating and made our stay perfect. Just to clarify the Wi-Fi listed is a MiFi hotspot Pack With limited data. Unfortunately, the people that came just before us Used up All the data so we were not able to log on when needed. We loved the accommodations and grounds so much that we Are looking into reserving the same spot again for a large family reunion/birthday next year.
