I am confused by all the good reviews here. I am not a crank, I am not unreasonable. I almost never ask for a different room when I get to a hotel. But this room they gave me, room 1, was small, and on the ground floor with windows that opened onto a public space. People could just walk up and look in. For any privacy at all the curtains need to be drawn and so the room was dark.
So, I asked very politely if I could switch rooms. I was told “no”, the hotel was full.
Something about the dismissive, almost rude tone of voice, made me pull out my computer to verify this. I did a search and sure enough, there was space at the hotel. I very politely said, “perhaps you can check your computer and make sure”. He saw me do something on my computer, but he barked back, “no, no rooms”. I turned by computer to show him there were rooms. He said he couldn’t give one to me because someone else might want them. I’d’ve happily paid more if there was a price difference, but they refused, and the tone was rude and condescending. I was nothing but cordial and polite, and so I do not understand the other reviewers here saying the staff are nice and the rooms are big. Niether were true for me.
I did stay in the room and it was noisy on both sides, voices coming in from the hotel side, and people talking right outside my window in the courtyard.
I won’t ever go back, and I must underscore how polite I was, and that I do rarely complain.
