Cowanesque Lake is maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers and is only open to the public between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

More outdoor recreation awaits just 20 minutes away at the Pine Creek Gorge, dubbed 'The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania!'

Avid outdoors men will want to walk the State Game Lands in Tioga 20 minutes south of this home. Find other outdoor thrills at Watkins Glen International or tee off at the River Valley Country Club!

Nice long weekend visiting friends in the area

We enjoyed our stay. However, there should be anti-slip treads installed on the deck/ramp because my 86 year old father fell as a result of the overnight frost which made it slippery and dangerous.

The property and hosts were excellent. The only thing we can think of is, the apt numbers were not easily visible. And, the GPS brought us to the lake side of the area. The house is across the street up a hill. If you choose to visit there, just pay mind to the address.

Great place to stay

The property is beautiful and well kept. The furniture was a bit outdated but added to the charm. You are on a hill, and the views are breath taking. It was hard to find at first as the sign is very small and was a bit covered. Nice little fire pit. Lots in the area to do.

Directions signage

It was not easy finding the house up on a hill. The sign was duct tape to a tree. Once we got in the apartment it had a smell luckly I had Lysol. Who ever clean need to do a better job. Dusting, vacuum the floors getting the corners and dead flys and bugs.Wipe the window ledges too. Beside all of that my husband and I was alone.

Although the unit was generally clean, when there are dead flies (30-40 inside entrance, 10-15 on kitchen floor, various smaller amounts around windows) you don't get a feeling of clean. The available tv stations cut out quite often which made watching it annoying. The deck area was not clean so I spent zero time on it.

Location perfect. Very clean. It had everything we could have possible need. Beautiful view. The only draw back was the stairway. And I did not ask about stairs. Only assumed no stairs from the pictures. My handicapped brother was with me along with my spouse who has bad knees and hips. Otherwise, perfect.

Quiet area

We drove past the entrance but it was easy to find after we turned around. The apartment was clean, kitchen ready and available, water pressure and temperature was great, quiet, peaceful, and the owner was nice. If we needed anything he was easy to reach and answered in a timely manner if he wasn’t available right away. There were restaurants and coffee shops nearby. I would stay here again. The only thing I wish it did have was a ceiling fan in the bedroom.

Beautiful view!!

The apartment is dated but was clean and tidy. The full kitchen is stocked with most everything you might need. The Wi-Fi is strong and consistent. And the deck!! It’s a shared deck but I had plenty of time to myself to enjoy the view of the lake and sit in the sun and read. It is about 20 minutes from Tioga which is a quaint little town. I did find it hard to find a good place for dinner. I wound up inn Wellsboro, about 35 minutes away. There is a great restaurant there called The Steakhouse. Quality food and excellent service. Lots of hiking in and around the PA Grand Canyon and Tioga forest. A great stay. Highly recommend.

Great location

Great location, nice property. The only thing I would have to say is the beds need updating. They were so uncomfortable even my kids had a hard time sleeping on them. I would upgrade the mattresses. The apartment is dated as well but everything worked. Owner was super nice when we talked to him.

Granny’s Attic was Not for Us

Before you book, read the fine print and reviews. This is a booking for 1 of 3 apartments in the house pictured. Communication with the owner was timely and friendly. This site was just not for us. The apartment seemed lifted exactly from my grandparent’s 1940’s house, down to the stove and kitchen cabinets. There were poorly patched cracks in the drywall on every corner of every window. The lawn and featured fire pit were completely overgrown. This may be your thing, but it wasn’t for us.

Girls weekend

This property was exactly what we were looking for, peaceful! Away from the hustle and bustle of life. The house is located at a quiet spot without neighbors. A small yard w a great view of the lake. Finding the driveway was a little challenging at first. (It is at the blue dumpster). The house had every amenity that we needed to make breakfast and snacks. Some obvious things, if you want your high end knives or pans bring them from home. The stuff that is here works though. We also brought bottled water which we were glad about. Again probably if you are used to city water you will think this water is great. We come from well water and just preferred bottled on our stay. The box springs in both beds were replaced and they do not squeak now!! About 30 mins from Wellsboro and 20 from Corning, NY. We had great meals everywhere we went out. Wellsboro diner, Mooneys bar and grill and Mahogany Grill both in Corning, NY, Ithaca, NY. We also ventured to John Treman state park to hike and were not disappointed!!! Charlie has been an excellent communicator through the entire process and willing to do anything to make our stay more enjoyable. More like a friend than a property manager. Overall completely pleased!
