I made the best of my stay, but this resort is really for the 18–30 party crowd. It’s outdated, doesn’t look, smell, or feel clean. My sheets were stained, I found a huge cockroach in the bathroom, and many areas like the ice machine and vents were rusted. Furniture was old and squeaky. They claimed to upgrade my room, but I had no view and was placed next to a noisy staff storage area—woken up daily at 5–6 AM by banging plates and carts.
The liquor was terrible—watered down and low quality. Every mimosa I had was warm. If you like name-brand alcohol, bring your own. Food was okay; the jerk chicken stand was the best and the steakhouse was decent. The restaurant servers were the highlight—friendly, respectful, and they made an effort to remember you.
Unfortunately, customer service at the front desk was poor. I never received the birthday champagne promised to my room, and no one helped coordinate decorations. A staff member at the steakhouse said he reserved and decorated for my birthday dinner, but didn’t follow through, even after daily reminders.
If you just want to party and don’t care about cleanliness or comfort, it might work. But if you want peace, aesthetics, and better service, this isn’t the place. I wouldn’t stay at a RIU resort again.
