The Kamana is lovely and luxurious. Our room was large and beautifully decorated. We loved the fluffy robes and comfy bed. The lounge is gorgeous and the restaurant has outstanding view of the lake and mountains. We arrived after a backpacking trip and sat in the lounge area (also with great views) for a delicious dinner from a varied menu (great wines too). A huge plus is the complimentary private soaking tub session for guests (be sure to book well in advance). Parking is free. Also, the staff are extremely attentive and helpful. We stored a few bags with them for several days while backpacking and they had moved them into our room before we arrived.
There are a few downsides:
The location isn't walkable to downtown Queenstown so bring your car. Also, there's a lot of construction going on at their adjacent sister property. It blocked some views (though not the restaurant/lounge), was quite loud during work hours and the equipment, at times, blocked parking access and made driving in/out a challenge. Once that's complete, this will be a five star experience.
