Time to get away with family/friends to enjoy the great outdoors, if that is what you're looking for then the Purple Heart Inn is the spot for you. This cozy to floor two bedroom two bath and has a family room upstairs and a living room downstairs leaves room for everybody to have their own space. There is a couple of breakfast nooks to have food or to use as office space there's a futon located downstairs along with the second bedroom and the second bathroom. The downstairs has a sliding glass door that leads out to a nice size deck that you could sit outside and enjoy listening to the river. There are lots of places to go hiking, biking and walking trails including the White Pine Trail and the Pere Marquette trail and all are within walking distance. There are shops downtown, restaurants, bars and a brewery.
The White Pine Trail goes 92 MI so you can go from Grand Rapids to Cadillac.
There are 3 parks in Reed City to visit; Rembrandt Park, Westerburg Park, and the Linear Park. The Linear Park is a trail that runs alongside the Hershey River that connects both the Rembrandt and the Westerburg Parks.
The Rembrandt Park which is located across the street and can be accessed via the covered bridge and going under the overpass has trails that you can go on which leads to the Lil Mac bridge, which is just like the Mackinac bridge only a smaller scale.
The Westerburg Park has baseball & softball diamonds, picnic & pavilions, basketball court, also has a storybook walk, a playground area and trails for a scenic walk.
There is lots of things to do within 15 minutes like canoeing kayaking, there's a 18 hole disc golf, a 18-hole golf course, and horseback riding stable.
There are cities within an hour; like Cadillac is about 45 minutes and Clare is about an hour.
And winter time not only brings beautiful scenic views but also trails that can be used with your snowmobiles or cross country trails.
