The location of the hotel is very lovely, as it is central to many activities in Reykjavik. The breakfast is lovely. Upon arrival we were surprised to learn that there was no parking at the hotel and felt that this is vital information that should be conveyed to guests before arrival. We received no information about how to park near the hotel prior to arriving.
We noted 2 things we wish to share:
1. There was no place in the bathroom to hang towels once they had been used. Clean towels were on a small bar to the side of the toilet, but once used, there was no place to put the towel to dry. This seems counterintuitive to efforts to encourage guests to re-use towels.
2. We noted an odor in our room every day, a smell consistent with off-gassing from sewer pipes. When we brought this to the attention of front desk staff by inquiring if the hotel was having a problem with the drainage system, we were told that this would be looked into. Upon revisiting this with the front desk, we were told "this was investigated and there was nothing wrong". However we noted that in all the hallways on our wing there were diffusers on display to create a flowery smell. Following our inquiry, a diffuser was place outside of our room to further mask the unpleasant odor. At a 4 star hotel, it is disappointing to be told that "nothing is wrong" when a valid question is posed. Initially we were told we could move rooms, but this was not offered following their "investigation".
