Ok so this was one of our favorite places to stay on Fontana Lake. You do not need a 4x4 to stay here! We drove our Ford Escape to the home several times & were ok. The road is gravel so expect uneven road conditions. The drive way is steep so just remember to take it slow on your way up so all the wheels grab if you don’t have a 4x4. When looking for the home continue driving until you see “Five Echoes” on the left. The road is one lane so just be mindful when driving. The home is 4 beds & 3 1/2 bath. 2 master suits on the bottom floor (with one of them, having a Jacuzzi tub in them) & 2 standard size rooms on the second floor. The place has everything you need to cook. They have tons of board games. The dock was about a 10-15 mins hike. Walk to the end of the drive way, turn left & walk to the very end of the gravel road until you see 3 red fences on the right. The dock will be through the first red gate. The walk is a bit strenuous but you can always drive your car down to the end & park at the red gate. The dock area is beautiful & moveable. Swim to the middle of the lake for a 360 view. Head left from the dock & paddle past 18 floating homes on your left & you’ll be to the main part of the lake. We got there in a John boat & 1 battery. Once you’re on the main lake to the left is a little beach area where you can get another 360 view of the Smoky Mountains & the mountains the cabin is hidden in. The best place to fish is near the danger zones in the early am or late pm.

This house is definitely secluded if you are looking for a quiet getaway. It was great for cooking and watching tv on our rainy day. The driveway is VERY steep ( 4WD/AWD a must)! To say it has lake access is a big stretch. The path and dock that are pictured are way at the end of the gravel road, nowhere near the house. The dock is falling apart and sinking, and the path down is overgrown. Bring groceries, it's a loonngg way to the store!!

Nice place but beware of the last mile

This property was large enough that our multigenerational group of 8 had plenty of room to spread out when needed. Our group loved the fire pit as well as the air hockey table. The walk to the dock is fairly long and does include lots of steps, which we didn’t realize when we brought our kayaks. We ended up driving to a launch site which was way easier. What we didn’t realize was the last mile to get to the house is a single lane gravel road, full of twists and turns and ending with a very steep driveway. A low sitting car would have some trouble, make sure you are in an SUV or a higher sitting car.

Birthday lake trip

My friends and I really enjoyed having our joint birthday lake trip at your cabin this year. The house was huge, full of amenities and close to all the outdoor things we had planned. Would definitely stay again!

House Great; Lake Access Nonexistent

The house is great, though quite remote on a windy, dirt road so keep that in mind. It was extremely clean, spacious and the kitchen was very well equipped with dishware and cookware. While we were not performing remote work, we did use the internet a lot and it worked great so no issues there. The big issue was the purported lake access which was the main criteria in renting this house as my husband and my nephew love to fish. We searched for it for two days and repeatedly asked for explicit directions from the management company. Finally on the afternoon before we left we received a map which was not helpful either. I happened to run across another homeowner as I was searching yet one more time the evening before we departed and he said he had allowed access across his property in the past. However, there was a closed gate in place and the area down to the lake was very overgrown and there is absolutely NO SIGNAGE indicating lake access to Five Echoes guests. If lake access is important to you, this is not the right place. If a clean, comfortable home in a beautiful location is what you want, this is a good choice. Great place for a large group.

Amazing property nestled in the mountains near Fontana

2 gorgeous master bedrooms, amazing Jacuzzi tub in one. Plenty of room upstairs as well. It's close to the lake and the access is a short 10 min walk. Things are a bit steep, the driveway and steps to the lake (they are a short walk down the street)

Breath Taking View

#1 views wer beautiful we were all amzed. The house is beautiful space for all 7 of our guest. The wifi worked perfectly for everyone teens were happy, we all had a good time. The home had everything in the kitchen bedrooms we felt right at hime. We left with good memories and will definitely return.

Friend and family and I booked this cabin months prior and under the listing they said they had wifi which was very important as I magage a home improvement company and had to work during the stay remotely. Once we arrived we saw a note dated for July 2nd 4 days before our arrival that said sorry for the inconvenience but the wifi is out do to a router issue. My issue is they had 4 days to notify me so I could make arrangements for a different place so I could accomplish my work. I lost 2 full days of work. There was zero service at cabin so in order to report the issue I needed to drive 20 minutes to get service and even then could not get the problem resolved. This also made planning very difficult. I have asked more then once for a partial refund due to lost work and inconvenience and haven't gotten a single response and its been 2 weeks so now Im writing this.

very nice airy place. easily accommodates eight people and an infant. wifi was good but cable did not work for us. Was able to sign into netflix. some fans did not work and a/c was hard to control. it was colder than we wanted but we were still comfortable. Minor safety issue with the deck.

It was a beautiful place everything exactly except one thing There was no excess to the water like the picture indicated. And of course it rained most of our stay there which is not your fault of course.

Lovely Mountain Retreat

This home was amazing! Everything about the home is beautiful !! There was even Pendleton bedding in the master bedroom. Getting to it was a little tricky after dark but worth it once we arrived. I hope to visit here again!!

Spacious and Secluded

This house was beautiful! So spacious, clean and well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms. My kids had a great time in the game room and enjoyed the bunk bed room. As others have said, the drive to the house is a bit nerve wracking so we avoided going out at night. The deck and firepit area was nice, but all the lighters were left outside in the rain and the firewood was wet so starting a fire was difficult. The kitchen has everything you need, but shopping is ~30 minutes away and the roads were under construction. Wifi was terrible..worked in the mornings thrn tapered off and there’s no cell service. Great for an unplugged trip, not great for trying to plan/research any part of your trip. Overall good house for a quick trip away.

Horrible experience

If you don’t need assistance, then you might be fine at this location but if you find yourself having to contact the property management, they are not going to do anything to help you. We were staying over Christmas weekend and the power went out at 4 AM the morning after we arrived in 4° weather with two elderly family members. And they absolutely refused to have a manager contact me, or do anything whatsoever to help us and they continue to be rude and difficult throughout the process of trying to figure out what I paid for versus what we got.

Mountain stay

Cabin was great and the owners went above and beyond to stock with essential items needed for cooking. Nice touch with air hockey table. My rating of four stars only is connectivity. Internet is non existent at best. One television didn't work, another had a remote that was not for the TV and no channel availability on the others. Stay was great just understand no tv and connectivity to the rest of the world.

Overall Good stay

Property was well maintained. Getting there at night was extremely difficult as it is all dirt road that leads to the property. There was no light or directions on when to take sudden left to get on the uphill to the property. There is one unpleasant neighbors few exceptionally great ones. A tree fell and blocked the street on the v day when we were checking out. Another neighbor came and cut the fallen tree’s trunk to clear the street

Peaceful and Quiet

Very nice, comfortable home. We really liked that it has 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms on the main level and allows pets - perfect for our family! O, and getting there is half the fun, lol! The property is in a remote area that involves traveling on a one lane dirt road in the mountains... Make sure you arrive during daylight hours! Cell service is non-existent and the satellite internet is intermittent, which means that the TV is also intermittent. We just decided not to bother with electronics and had a great time playing air hockey, board games and roasting s'mores on the fire pit. It was quality family time in a peaceful, quiet place surrounded by mountains and a view of the lake. A great place to just say "ahhh".
