For those looking to visit the coast, this rental is just steps away from the water, and less than a half-mile from Wallis Sands State Beach where you can swim, walk on the sand, have a picnic, and take in views of the Isles of Shoals. Founded in 1623, the town of Rye offers historic sites, architecture, and the longest stretch of coastline of any New Hampshire coastal town. Rye is also home to almost 23 square miles of wetlands and marshes, much of which is explorable via scenic hiking trails. And for exciting day trips, this rental is only 60 miles from Boston, MA and Portland, ME.

Friends weekend

The lock on one of the sliders was broken when we got there but we didn’t notice until later that night. When I heard back from the property manager he said they were aware and came out the next afternoon to replace it. When he arrived he let himself into the house without knocking and said he didn’t want us to have to go downstairs to let him in. He also showed up early the day we were leaving and let himself in again to collect the trash. It just seemed inappropriate and we won’t be renting from them again

Beautiful Home but some issues

The home was absolutely stunning and clean, but there were a few things that weren’t so great. There were stains on the sheets, and one of the sliding doors locks were completely broken so we were unable to lock it. We didn’t feel very safe because of this and being in a new area with lots of people we definitely would have liked to have been able to lock all the doors. Other than that we had a wonderful experience.

Lots of positives about this property: it was clean, well-stocked with kitchenware and towels/wash cloths, location was great. The one suggestion is to update the mattresses in all bedrooms. They were old and quite uncomfortable as well as stained. This would be an easy fix and really enhance the experience.

We regret renting this house

There were many issues during our 4-day stay. The house smells strongly of mildew. We needed to keep windows open throughout to keep air flow to combat the strong smell. Mattresses in main bedrooms are failed and unsanitary with large areas that look to be stained with urine and blood. Foosball table broken. Dining chairs on porch broken. Basic cleanliness of floors & bathrooms fine but remainder not clean. Pots and pans were put away dirty & had to be washed before use. Ceiling fixtures filled with bugs, fan filters blocked with gunk, fabric blinds dirty, lamp shades, art, etc all have a layer of gunk, screens dirty, windows poorly cleaned. No fault of property, but of note - house directly in front of porch is a literal trash heap and there is a green swampy area to the side of the house filled with so many happy frogs we had to use ear plugs to sleep in the bedroom at that end of the house. We loved the house layout and location. If the mildew was professionally remediated & HVAC added for AC & the furnishings taken care of, it would be a 5 star gem. As it stands, I'd appreciate my money back.

Beautiful house within walking distance to Wallis Sand State beach. Convenient short drive into Portsmouth. Very well decorated and appointed. Everything you need for a few days or longer at the beach. Except...the house does not have AC! Can I recommend to the owner to buy 3 or 4 box fans. It would have made a big difference for us on the few very hot days we were there. Two bedrooms have ceiling fans but were stuck on low as we couldn't figure out the remote (no instructions). Two other small fans were provided, but they are old and don't operate properly. Other than that, the house and location were great!

Nice, clean and well renovated big house. However, not recommended during hot Days bécause no air condition inf. No instructions regarding thé alarm système, cieling fans nor thermostat fonctionning. Very close to thé Beach! Very quiet place And Nice neighbours. Indoor garage very usefull. Super balcony !

Great space for a large family near the ocean

Overall property was great for size, space, clean and convenient to the beach - 5 min walk. Nice for a large family. Not deal breakers but it would have made it more comfortable if bathrooms had safety grab bars and non-slip flooring. Coat hooks through out to hang clothes, towels accessories, etc as closet available in only one of the bedrooms. The foosball table had no ball and parts were broken - bummer :(

Guzzi Drive

The house was very spacious, bright, lots of windows which provided lots of natural light. the garage fit two cars and allowed for two others in the driveway. The couch is large enough for six of us to chill, relax and watch a good movie after a day of shopping in Portsmouth. The bedroom rugs are stained and probably should be replaced but the few stains didn't distract from the rest of the house. The beach was gorgeous which is about a 5 minute walk. The few suggestions...The frying pans are teflon and peeling a little so should probably be replaced. If you plan to cook and not eat out every meal you will need to bring leftover containers because there aren't any. There were not any ziploc bags so you might want to bring some for extra food storage. Overall, the location and house were perfect.

The ocean view was the main amenity. We were disappointed with the initial cleanliness specifically a greasy stove, stained rugs, well worn uncomfortable furniture, a walk outside revealed a lint buildup at the dryer vent which made us not use the washer and dryer, that is an unsafe condition for a dryer. The management at Vacasa were responsive and sent cleaning crew in, but it was at their convenience not ours, we had to srtay away while they cleaned. I did not check to see if dryer vent was cleaned , but stove and rugs were addressed as good as they could considering their long time neglect.A request was made of us to strip the beds upon checkout which revealed yellow stained mattresses, had I seen that earlier I would have been reluctant to sleep on either one.

Great family space

We had a wonderful time. Large family table, couch, clean bathrooms, large outside deck. Perfect for large family. However I would not go back until they cleaned or replaced the stained carpets and deck cushions. One deck couch portion was broken and unusable. Should be tossed. BBQ grill bottom was full of grease and shot out flames. The main reason we booked and even asked about the deck and bbq was for family activity. The rest was great.

Great House

We stayed here for our daughter's college graduation and had family over for a cookout after. It was raining so unfortunately couldn't' enjoy the large deck but the house had a nice open floor plan between the living and dining area that we had plenty of room! House was very clean, kitchen well stocked. Already recommended to our friend for when his son graduates in 2 years!

The house has so much potential. We were disappointed.

The home could be so much more if it was taken care of regularly. It definitely needs a VERY deep cleaning. For example the furniture in the living room were dirty; we basically put down sheets when we sat on the furniture. One armchair had what looked to be orange “Cheeto” stains. The carpets need a good cleaning or better yet, need to be replaced. The outdoor furniture cushions should be taken in when not in use, however they remain outside on the deck and are not very clean. We rarely sat on them. The view of the water is obstructed by very dirty windows and screens, which should be cleaned routinely. In addition to the deep cleaning that is needed, we were given only 1 extra roll of toilet paper (there are 2 bathrooms) for the week that we were there. The toilet paper provided in each bathroom only had ½ the roll left when we arrived. No additional paper towels were provided, and the roll when we arrived was half empty. We were provided with one towel for the kitchen. No cutting board was provided. No instructions on garbage pick up or recycling were provided. For the price we paid for the week, these supplies should be provided by the hosts, which in this case is Vacasa. Ironically, Vacasa states on their information provided, “Our housekeeping teams are working hard to ensure that every Vacasa home meets the highest expectation of cleanliness”. NOT!!! This home could be worth the cost of the rental; it has so much more potential. We were disappointed.

Really nice at first glance, issues to follow

The location of the property was great, a short walk to beautiful beach. The property was spacious and aesthetically pleasing, however, the carpet was damp, there was an odor to the house, the shower lining was noticeably dirty and we lost hot water, which was 'unable to be repaired.' Although this property had some good things to offer, we will not be returning due to issues that arose.

Not Worth the Price - Description Omits Key Things

Overall it's a fine house with an incredible location. You're just a three to four minute walk to one of the state beaches, and you're right on the ocean Rt1, which is beautiful. But the description of the house has key omissions. The house is pretty much on top of a neighboring house that has incredibly loud barking dogs. The neighbors are not jerks by any means, but they live there - one evening they were pressure washing their cars (loud) all through our dinner time, so eating on the deck (which is almost on top of the neighbor's house) wasn't an option. The pictures in the listing deliberately obscure how close the neighbors are and how much of an eye sore that house in in the way of the ocean view. While the listing does not claim there's A/C, failing to mention that matters since the house can get incredibly stuffy without any cross ventilation options either. The large management company that runs the house is exactly what you'd expect - getting in touch with a human there who can help is like trying to navigate Verizon's customer service. Fine house, but not at all worth what you pay.

Great house and location

We had some trouble getting into the property when the lockbox appeared to be dead. We were able to get it resolved through the Vacasa/Vrbo help lines but it did take over an hour to get resolved. Fortunately after that everything about our trip went well! We very much enjoyed the house and other than a few ants here and there everything was clean and easy to manage. Would recommend this for a stay close to the beach and downtown Portsmouth!

Quiet Beach Retreat

Nice layout, but needs some attention

This property is somewhat accurate to the listing, but found a few deviations. First, the parking is not adequate for 4 vehicles. I’d plan no more than 3. Second, the street is very narrow and the neighbors have their garage spilling out into the street; not only do you have to contend with it driving, but it does diminish the view a bit. Third, there were multiple electrical outlets that were not working, nor was the dishwasher. The property has a nice layout, and it’s convenient to get to grocery stores and restaurants. If the electrical outlets and dishwasher were fixed, I’d have left a better review because theres nothing that can be done about the neighbors.
