My stay at La Quinta was completely unacceptable. I checked in late at night with my 7-year-old and 12-year-old children, expecting to get a few hours of rest before continuing our trip. Instead, I discovered bed bugs in the bed around 2:30 a.m. I immediately recorded video proof of the infestation. I went to speak with the front desk, expecting some level of concern or support, but the manager was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. No apology, no offer of a new room, and no concern that two children had just been exposed to a health hazard.
To make things worse, I contacted Expedia, where I booked the room, and the agent I spoke to provided no real assistance. I explained the situation and even offered to send the video, but I felt like I was being ignored. At that point, I had no choice but to gather my kids and search for another hotel in the middle of the night, completely exhausted, stressed, and frustrated.
What I experienced was more than a minor inconvenience. It was a health and safety issue, and I’m shocked at the lack of professionalism and care from both La Quinta and Expedia. It’s clear that Expedia does not thoroughly vet the hotels listed on their site, which puts customers at risk.
