We love staying here! We usually come a few times per year. Everything was great per usual except this time the room had a funny smell and the drawers were not cleaned out so that was a bit off putting but hopefully they fix that because we love the location, the amenities, and everything else!

We absolutely loved the property. The grounds were beautiful, the pool was warm, the outdoor firepits were enjoyable. The concert on property was a pleasant surprise. We had a garden view room on the second level facing the pool. The room was a nice size, the beds were comfortable, the vaulted wood ceilings gave a nice vibe. The basic areas were clean, but some of the finishings were showing their age, and the room could benefit from a deep clean. (Dusty corners, dirty air vents) overall we really enjoyed the resort. The location was conviniently located for sight seeing with a car.

We overall loved our experience but had one small and one medium criticism. One, my husband and three kids (12, 7 & 5) were playing a tame game of Marco Polo in the pool at 3pm and someone complained about the noise. The staff came by and told us to stop playing, of course we did. There were a certain number of retiree aged people around the pool that may not have appreciated the joyful sounds of children playing. So, let it be known that if you have small kids that might want to swim and be kids, the pool may not be the choice. We allocated one day to spend at the hotel and surrounding area so it was disappointing to have it snuffed out by a grumpus. Second, our room was probably the worst room in an otherwise great hotel. The building we were in gets the full power of the restaurant’s air handler so has a constant and loud waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh in the background and made it impossible to open the lovely sliding glass door or enjoy the useless balcony. I’m sure the rooms at the other end the hotel offer are lovely but building A isn’t great for atmosphere unless you’re there for a show because building A also overlooks the stage. We’d stay there again and the hotel offered a great value but it may not be entirely kid friendly or equal across the buildings in terms of atmosphere.

Amazing property on Shelter Island. Rooms are a bit outdated. A simple switch of carpeting and some better towels would make a world of difference. Staff is amazing! Location is amazing! Overall a great place. You’ll spend most of the time outside of your room. However for the rates the rooms should be modernized a bit.

Humphrey is one of the best hotels that I’ve stayed at. Staff was very nice room is spacious and clean and lots of amenities down to the dishes. Big patio towels are nice and soft pillows are fabulous overall a wonderful stay!
