I stayed in The Horton Grand for six nights from 8/16 till 8/22 in 2024. Unbelievably, my room (#321) did not have a refrigerator, although two staff members at the front desk (reception) claimed that every room had one. I remember several years ago before the pandemic my room did have a microwave oven and a refrigerator when I stayed in the same hotel.

We had an amazing stay at The Horton Grand, right in the heart of Downtown/Gaslamp Quarter. The location is perfect—walking distance to everything we needed, from great restaurants to shops and entertainment. Our suite was spacious and spotless, with a surprisingly large kitchen that made it feel like a home away from home. The room was well-appointed, comfortable, and quiet, which made it easy to relax after a day of exploring. What really stood out was the staff—everyone was so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They made us feel genuinely welcome and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in San Diego. Highly recommend!

Friendly welcome at the valet & Anthony at the front desk upgraded our room at check in when he heard it was our Anniversary. We've stayed here in the past, and love the history, architecture and character of the hotel. It's close to everything downtown, yet peaceful.

Very Historical hotel with great homage to the originality of the property. We had a Garden view which was nice to be able to sit on the balcony. We did get VIP offers for drinks and restaurants but I do feel it closed early (10pm) so we weren’t able to use but not a big deal. Very helpful doormen, walkable to Petco park, and a close stop for the historical trolly. The room isn’t huge but understandable for area and history of hotel. We would absolutely stay here again.

It has an old fashioned feel. But that doesn’t mean everything has to be old. The handles for the shower were wobbly. There is a dresser like by the door but it’s locked and has no function. Maybe put a luggage cart instead? Or a bench for putting shoes on. The towels are rough to the touch.

Charming old hotel. This was a one-night stay. Did not get the room I reserved and pre-paid for. Reserved a city review but was given a courtyard room. After I mentioned this at check out, the hotel waived the resort fee. One light fixture was out in the bathroom and there was a used bar soap in the shower. Assuming it was from a previous guest.

Quaint boutique hotel…need valet if you have a car…breakfast at Cafee 222 was good. Be careful of fireplace in room (we were light headed in the morning - called hotel to explain - hopefully they turned off gas in Room 333)
