The Carlton Hotel has a nice location, but my stay was disrupted by constant noise and thin walls. On top of that, housekeeping knocked on the door early in the morning, which felt intrusive. Not ideal if you're looking for a restful stay.

The Hotel is overall good to stay at. Obviously the building is old, so we had some trouble with the heaters, but the Staff is very very nice. It's a little loud, we hat a room with a door to the next room, which was a little irritating, cause we could hear them very clearly. The neighbourhood is okay. Not the cleanest, but we never felt unsafe an there's a Trader Joe's nearby to get your groceries. Don't go to Sutter and fine foods right above the street, it's way too expensive. Trader Joe's is just two blocks away and has a better price. If you're good on your feet you can walk to the hotspots a lot.

This was an excellent place to stay. It was in a safe district, with cafes and small stores, like Trader Joe’s, close by. Easy to be picked up by ride services. Probably an old building, but very well restored and decorated. I would go there again

Good basic hotel at a good price for downtown SF. Just one fault the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors. I had to ask them to turn down the TV at night. They did immediately so that was good.

During our stay the weather was very warm. The hotel has no A/C and room windows only open 2 inches for safety reasons. Ceiling fan works but blows no air downward. Radiator heater remains on and only warm to the touch, but still hot in an already warm room. You have to use your phone for the access code to the room, which is cool, but not cool when wifi doesn't work.

Pleasant stay, the room was clean, well lit with all the appliances you need. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Free coffee in the lobby. I stayed there for 4 nights and honestly I didn't lack anything or have any problems. I highly recommend it.

Super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis! Das Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit und nett und das Zimmer war gut ausgestattet. Die nahgelegenen Union Square und Tenderloin sind wirklich sehr von Drogenkonsum geprägt, aber das Hotel befindet sich nur am Rande dieser Gegend auf einer ruhigen Straße. Wir haben uns da sehr sicher gefühlt. Gute Essen- und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sowie Verbindung zu Bart und Muni.
