We checked in on Wednesday, August 27th, and did not receive a satisfactory response until August 29th, after my husband escalated our concerns to the manager. It appears that booking this property through a third-party service resulted in subpar service. Upon arrival, we encountered several issues, including a leaking refrigerator, an unclean suite, and an empty soap dispenser. We promptly notified the front desk about the refrigerator leak, which was particularly concerning as we needed to store my wife's diabetic medication. Although the staff attempted to repair the refrigerator, the leak persisted, and their solution was to place a towel inside. We also reported other issues, including crumbs on the floor, a single roll of tissue in the bathroom, and the empty soap dispenser. As a frequent Expedia user, I have never experienced such poor service. If I book thru Expedia again for another trip to Puerto Rico, I will definitely not choose this hotel.

Started out wonderfully at check in and then service got worse and worse with time. Initial check in was pleasant. Bathroom was a little filthy and definitely weathered. It can use a touch up. Service forgot to replenish towels and after requesting had to wait several hours (and a repeat visit to front desk). Paid for a full breakfast but only received “continental” breakfast. Service staff kind for the most part but definitely expected way more for a 4 star hotel. Spot is convenient for accessing Viejo San Juan. Will likely try another hotel or chain upon repeat visit.

I wanted to give Rumbao a higher rating but there was something that really bothered me during our stay. The hotel itself is very clean and the front desk is respectful and attentive. However, I stayed for a week and I did not think it was unreasonable to request that the room be cleaned twice. The first time I asked for the room cleaning was Tuesday. We arrived on Sunday. I had to request it 3x before ir was actually done. The irony in this is there are indicators outside the door where you let housekeeping know you are requesting room cleaning. I indicated this and went to front desk and I. called after they did not clean it. This was annoying. In addition to this, I asked for towels. Since the room wasn’t cleaned, we ran out of towels. I just gave up on housekeeping coming to clean and settled for towels. I had to ask 3x before we got them. Washcloths never came with the towels. These simple requests were not honored or given to us late and it was an inconvenience. Finally, when I got the bill at checkout, it was $45 higher than I was told to expect (since I had paid in full except for $190 which was their crazy daily fee of $50, not including $3 extra per day) The gentlemen at the front desk could not explain the reason for the extra charges but proceeded to tell me it was an error and that’s not what I would be billed. In short, NO I would not stay here again for these reasons. It’s also located in far Northwest so it’s not a convenient unless you rent a car.

If you are looking for a great relaxing stay then you do not want to stay here at Hotel Rumbao! I stayed 3 nights and neither was a great night. The first night I heard drilling from about 7am until I decided to get up and get dressed. I went to the front desk to request a room change and was told it was only for that day and they would be done in about 30 minutes. They acted as though I was the issue because I complained. They told me the only thing the supervisor Josephine could do was give me a credit of the taxes on the resort fee for one night. Yes I said the credit would be for the taxes for 1 night only. The next day I had the same issue. Then on top of the drilling, my room was next to a utility closet that the staff used all day and night so for the entire night all I heard was the door slamming every 10 minutes or so. So I would not advise anyone traveling to Puerto Rico to stay at Hotel Rumbao. My entire trip I had not 1 good night of sleep oh and no I did not receive any credit! Not even the tax credit for the 1 night that Superviaor Josephine said she would give for my inconvenience.

This is the second time in a row we stayed at this location and I must say it's fantastic the staff is friendly and professional. Check in is fast we asked for an upgrade and I'm glad we did, the room was beautiful and very clean. The bar/Cafe is the best, bartender makes the best drinks and the crab tacos are delicious. The restaurant upstairs 10 out of 10.... See you next year and thank you for a wonderful stay....

The hotel itself is in a wonderful area, main reason I picked it. However the hotel inside feels a little tired and in need of updating. The rotating sign outside for DND did not work are kids would come by and play with it. It was also little confusing that the valet entrance is on the lower level while the main desk was on the 1 st floor, there was no one helping guide new heat to 1st floor when we got there.
