This is small budget-friendly property. You get a room and not much more. The bed linens and the bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable. There was some old dust in the corners and on the AC unit. Toilet paper, toiletries, towels were provided. Large-screen TV in the room is hooked to cable, 100s of channels available. Free wi-fi. The area around the property appeared safe, there were several cafes walking distance. 10 min by car to downtown.

I got room 106. It reaked with cigarette smell and they tried to cover it with Lysol. The walls were scratched, baseboards missing through out the whole room. Linens were horrendous. I stayed here the week before and got room 212 and it was ok.

overall 5 star rating for the value. staff was friendly and although the building was dated, it did provide a kithenette, nice pool / hottub, and unlimited supply of sheets and towels. area itself was convenient but seemed "questionable" even though surrounding property prices are sky high.

This was exactly what we needed for our visit. Don’t expect 5star and you won’t get your feelings hurt. It’s in a popular, safe area, where most motels look like this, so it’s not like it’s the outlier. As far as the room goes- it was clean, beds were comfy, no funky smells, and I always appreciate no carpet in a motel. I just gave everything a quick Lysol spray and Clorox wipe and I felt good to go. After a drive up from LA gave us a chance to stretch before hitting downtown. Everything is just a few minutes away. This was the best location. LOVE the fridge and microwave. Great for bringing leftovers back! The very few cons are: It was loud at night because of the street, but neighboring room sounds are non existent which I appreciate. I’m a light sleeper, but the kids didn’t even notice. 2) I wish it had a top swing latch, just for feeling extra safe. 3) Parkings a little tight, but enough. 4) Water pressure was a little low in the morning, but excellent every other time! - don’t forget to bring your own shampoo and conditioner! Overall, this was perfect for our needs. I just didn’t feel comfortable spending hundreds for resort style hotels just to sleep. It was priced right and suited us perfectly. We were up early the next day to head out to the university, so we really didn’t need much from it. Of course I was nervous, but so glad I bit the bullet. Saved so much and was so close to everything. I will definitely consider staying again in the future.

The room was missing the baseboard and smelled of cleaning products. The bottom bedsheet was not a fitted sheet so when I pulled back the covers it revealed a huge stain on the bottom sheet. Gross. The mattress was so hard I laid out pillows to sleep on. However at 2:15 in the morning the “neighbors” came back drunk and started screaming and fighting. I packed up my stuff and headed home. Never again at the Sunset Motel.
