We were anxious to try Las Palomas after seeing its highly respectable score on Trip Advisor. However, our experience was very disappointing. While each room is “unique”, clearly some are far superior to others. We were in Room #15. It had a King bed, a kitchenette (which we weren’t expecting) and a kiva. However it was so dark in the bedroom that it appeared quite dingy. The toilet in the bathroom constantly ran—and even after bringing it to the attention of management, it was never attended to. They had ant traps placed in the kitchen and we did encounter several bugs despite never having or preparing food in our unit. We even had a baby roach in our bed! This unit is definitely NOT suitable for seniors. Despite being a historic unit, the floor is uneven and to step over the bathtub threshold is not easy—particularly for anyone short in stature. Parking was sometimes challenging outside our complex, so we mostly parked at the Main building. On top of everything else we had no water for a period of at least 5-6 hours one evening and management made no effort to inform its guests. Similarly, they were doing major construction repairs right outside our unit with pneumatics that made any attempt to relax impossible! The best thing about this property is the included breakfast, although no substitutions are allowed. We’ve enjoyed staying at a variety of places in Santa Fe over the years, but this one was disappointing.
