This motel is smack-dab across from the internationally-known Sault Locks. It's been in its location easily 50 years: as "retro" as you can get! It has a tropical "cabana" vibe and has one of the best "free" breakfasts on Portage Ave. It's economical, offers a discount for meals at the restaurant by the same name nextdoor (but unrelated venue), and walkable to just about anything: pubs, ice cream, the Locks Visitor Center, everything that makes the Soo fun. I can't wait to go back.

The room was nice, breakfast was sufficient; had choices of hot items and cold items. The room could have used two chairs and a small table instead of a recliner. The "up dating" of the room really needed to be finished. Adding a few hooks on the wall behind the door opening would be nice, also in the corner by one of the beds. There was absolutely no where to hang a wet jacket, shirt or anything for that matter. Put batteries in the wall clock. Bathroom was sufficient but no ventilation as the window does not open.

I'd been waiting 50 years to stay here! A fabulous little "tourist" motel complex literally across the street from the Soo Locks. As a child on vacation, my parents would drive by this modest venue on our way into Ontario to fish and etc. Our destination was never the Soo proper ... But it was mine, last week! Yes, the walls are thin and the venue itself is "retro" all the way, but the people are friendly and, honestly, compared to the two Wyndham properties I stayed stayed at on the same trip --- THIS independent had the a better free breakfast than the "fancy" hotel down the street. Furthermore, the Lockview Restaurant next door, even though not part of the same outfit, will give you a discount if you're staying at the Motel. And the food there is VERY good and generous. I'll be back here, for sure.

This is an older property in excellent repair. It has features like windows that open and independent control of hot and cold water. You can actually set the water temperature and flow to what you want! The room was spotless and spacious, with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. There is a table and chairs. Staff was helpful, polite and accommodating. Breakfast is the typical buffet with eggo style waffles and pastries. A collection of fresh fruit completes the offering. Gluten free is limited to fruit.

Lucy in the breakfast area was so friendly and helpful. The area was very clean and the breakfast food was good. Our room floor was filthy. Our socks and feet were pretty dirty after walking on the floor. We ended up taking napkins and wiping down the floor. The napkins were almost black with dirt. The sheets on one of the beds were old and full of pills. It felt like sand. Thankfully, the other bed had better sheets.

Good location, rates, beds were nice. Furnace stunk like someone peed in it when it turned on late at night. Motorcycle group up drinking and reving engines until 2:30 am. Walls thin and didn’t buffer much noise. Not all property’s issue, but not a place I would stay with my kids again.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! If you are visiting the Sault to see the Locks, as we were, then this is the hotel for you. You enter right across the street! We stayed in a King Cabin which we were given as an upgrade from our Queen by the manager. Everything was wonderful!

Given great suggestions for places to view during our stay. We were given an upgrade tp our room which we did not expect. We used the hotel as a launchpoint to other locations inside of 60 miles.The townn was,quiet and we gad the Soo locks right across the street. The room was very neat, clean and crisp, with a nice sitting area viewing a bed of tulips and plants w/ which we took advantage of for our morning coffee and danish. Id go back but i would request the more spacious room or cottage room as i think it is called.... thumbs up!

The sinks in the cabins are not in the bathroom, they are in the bedroom, which is strange and inconvenient. There was only one bar of soap, so we had to keep bringing from the shower to the sink and back. We came back from breakfast to find the cleaning lady turning down the room, despite it being several hours before check out. I will say it was pretty quiet for being in downtown and it was clean.

Lockview Motel offers cute, clean lodging. The Soo Locks visitor center is across the street. You can easily walk to shops, dining and the locks. We stayed in one of the cabins with two very comfortable queen sized beds. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We would stay again and we will recommend Lockview to friends and family.

We stayed in a cottage room, it was renovated re ently. We felt very comfortable & the room was very clean !! Staff was very helpful when we checked in, love that they have the coded locks on their rooms. We would definitely stay again!

Meh, I’ve never stayed at a property that is open all year, yet it felt like they had just opened for the season and weren’t ready for guests. The heater wasn’t working and when the temperature dropped down to 40 so they brought a space heater that was helpful. Breakfast was sometimes continental other times there was biscuits and gravy. I asked the first day if we could get a second chair since we were there for four days. I was told yes, but never got a second chair. Everyday the towels were changed but the coffee and cups were not restocked in the room. The front desk was only staffed from 9-3 so I had to check in over the phone before they left for the day.
