The room we had was a little worn and had kind of a “smell”. They said they had a “galaxy” of wine and beer choices but it was actually very limited. We asked for an upgrade but were denied and told the hotel was “full” (it clearly wasn’t). Just not quite the same Moonrise I remember from 10 years ago.

A tornado had just hit St Louis about 2 hours prior to our arrival, so there was no power in hotel initially - check-in was old school, but the staff was so friendly and patient, instead of frazzled and short-tempered (as I would have been lol). The power was restored by the end of the night. Always love staying at The Moonrise - rooms and entire hotel has a great vibe!

The Moonrise hotel was in the area of fhe devastating Tornado that hit the Forest Park area of St. Louis. When I arrived 30 minutes after the Tornado finish, the hotel had only generator power available. The power finally came on about 4hrs after I had arrived. The staff for that weekend to me handle the situation that best way that they could. Especially with some customers with zero patience, knowingly aware of the Tornado just devastated the area. My stay at the hotel was the only thing that kept me sane after seeing total devastation from Friday until my checkout on Monday.

I was really surprised at the cleanliness of the rooms. The aesthetic of the hotel is really cool and why I booked it, plus the really good reviews made me feel like the 200$ splurge on our roadtrip was worth it. But upon going into our room I could see food and hair on the floor, the couch had suspicious white stains on it, the fridge still had someone else’s food in it and the toilet was not cleaned… I’m talking fecal matter in the bowl.
We don’t usually make a fuss but this was just nasty and the room was not cheap so my husband went and notified the front desk. She was nice about it though and no questions asked gave us a new room. The next room we got was better but it still wasn’t the level of clean you’d be hoping for. The showers in both of the rooms were not very clean and the floor was black from dirt and grime over time. The toilet in the new room stopped being able to flush which is not fun.
I really wanted to love this place and I don’t like being negative and leaving bad reviews but for a place that’s on the expensive side I don’t think that is acceptable. The cheaper budget hotels we stayed at were clean.
The pros were the space aesthetic and the area was really cute. I wish we had some more time to explore the area some more. And the front desk staff was nice.

Great location in proximity to venues and an eclectic mix of restaurants. Beautiful hotel with a very unique look. Unfortunately, our trip was marred by a tornado that touched down and caused a lot of damage. Obviously that's no fault to the hotel, but one staff member in particular made things worse than they should have been.

Nice clean room unfortunately we didn’t get to utilize all the facilities because we got there right after a tornado hit in the area so there was no power till we were ready to settle down for the night no TV because of the Internet and the TV being down, but the hotel was fine. Staff was friendly. It was still clean lots of amenities around

There were major power outages due to tornadoes. The staff did an excellent job getting people checked in and cars parked despite only back up power. They were prepared, nice and professional despite the unusual circumstances.

Really enjoy it was right next to Delmar Hall. Enjoyed gated valet! The staff was exceptional. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. We will be back!

The staff didn’t make you feel comfortable and lacked attention to our needs. Requested housekeeping for our third night but did not happen. Person working bar in the restaurant was very inattentive. Seemed like there were other important things going on then taking care of the guests. Liked the location but will not stay again because of customer service.

Antoinette was present when we checked in (after standing for almost 5 minutes at the front desk with no one there). One of the most unhelpful, rude and rushed check-ins I’ve had. No explanation of anything to include how to get to elevators, rooftop bar, breakfast, anything. She was short when I inquired on parking as my husband had been sitting in the car outside. No valet ever came, we ended up self parking after I asked twice during the check in process. She gave me the keys and turned around again. Not a great start to the stay.
When we got into the room the toilet was running constantly. (My husband fixed it after some time).
I probably wouldn’t pick to stay here again as there are other options in the area.

Disappointed in our stay at the Moonrise this visit. We have stayed here multiple times previously over the last 10 years and this last time was not great. Our first room had dirty bedding so we were switched to another room (wonderful front desk staff provided us with free drinks!) but then our second room was also not the cleanest. We also had drunk guests running around and falling in our hallway. Will probably not be staying here again, the quality has gone down immensely.
