Upon arrival at the Residence Inn from the UK for a family funeral, I was asked for ID and credit card to confirm the reservation and provided with 2 key cards for room 201. When we opened the door, we were shocked to see a woman in the bed watching television. I apologized and explained there must have been a mix up and we swiftly exited & returned to the reception desk. I explained what had happened, raised concerns about security and asked for access to a suite that reflected the booking, I was told there were no more suites available as the one left had not been cleaned and the person at reception was the only staff member in the hotel. The confused staff member then disappeared for 45mins, my parents fell asleep on the seats at reception. At approx 1am we were given access to the suite and an apology as it was just given a basic clean. I was advised to speak to the manager the next day, the next day was the funeral so we did not speak with the manager and the other staff I spoke with said we shouldn't need to complain as we go a room in the end. Security was not a concern at this location, neither is customer service
I emailed a more detailed summary of this experience directly to the manager and a month later I have had still received no reply. I would not recommend, especially not for lone female travelers.
