Enjoy the Sierras this updated cabin on the edge of the village of Twain Harte. The back deck is peaceful and private (no house directly behind you, only tall pines!), and showcases the peace and natural beauty of this area, yet within a 10 min walk you're in town with restaurants, shops, coffee, etc. We have a flat circular driveway and a fenced in backyard.
The space
Welcome to Daisy’s place! A sweet little 3 bedroom cabin in Twain Harte, a little over 2 hrs drive from the Bay Area.
We have three bedrooms. Pets are welcome. We have a wrap-around deck with plenty of room to dine and relax in the beautiful trees, or play a game of cornhole. We are approximately a 10 min walk to downtown Twain Harte with restaurants, shops, coffee, etc. Thirty minutes up the road is Dodge Ridge if you like skiing, as well as Pinecrest Lake for summertime fun and outdoor movies. We have a flat, circular driveway in the front that can fit multiple cars.
As this is our part-time mountain house, we try to leave the kitchen stocked with the basics; sugar, some spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, etc. We also try to stock things such as zip lock bags, etc. so we/you have access to the things we/you need to enjoy the stay, and not always be running to the store (although the Twain Harte Market is lovely!) We don't rent this place out all that often, but have enjoyed our stay at similar places, so when we won't be here we sometimes offer it to others to enjoy. Please enjoy our home in the mountains, we love it and so do our friends, and please care for it as if it were your own.
Some more specific details:
There are 3 bedrooms, 2 upstairs and one on the main level.
Bedroom 1 - main level - queen bed. Has a closet and storage drawers under the bed.
Bedroom 2 & 3 - both are upstairs and have a full size bed, and small dresser. The wall between the 2 bedrooms does not go all the way up to the ceiling (see photos), so the bedrooms are not soundproof but are otherwise totally private from one another and the rest of the house. These rooms are larger than the one downstairs as they have an extra little alcove area.
We have both a gas grill and a charcoal grill on the back deck.
The living room has a wood burning fireplace insert.
There are a few classic board games are located in the dining room closet (Jenga, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, etc).
We haven’t marked this place as “family friendly” as it is NOT childproof, but we are not opposed to having well behaved kids stay here. If your children (or you) are rambunctious or tend to destroy things, we might suggest you stay somewhere else. There is a baby gate in the closet, if you do have little ones (or dogs) and you want to keep them from going upstairs. This cabin was built in 1932, and many of the original details have been very well preserved.
There are a few steps up to the house from the parking area (see photos). Unfortunately there is no alternate access to the house without having to go up these stairs.
It does snow in Twain Harte, and our cabin is ~4000 ft, make sure you have all wheel/4-wheel drive and chains available, especially if you plan to ski at Dodge Ridge (25 min away, when the roads are clear). The roads can be icy, especially after it snows.
Plenty of swimming holes nearby, and great hiking in the spring, summer, fall, and snowshoe opportunities in the winter. Yosemite is 1h20m to the gate.
We do not currently have laundry on-site, as there is a great laundromat 3-4 min drive down the hill, should you need anything washed/dried.
Please inquire with any questions. Thanks and enjoy your stay in the Sierras!
Guest access
You'll have access to the whole house, with the exception of one locked cabinet and the basement.
Other things to note
Our backyard isn't fancy/manicured but it is completely fenced in. We are waiting on one gate, so are using a large piece of plywood on that side in the meantime. A little less finished than we'd like it to be, but it is secure and will keep your pup from chasing any of the deer/bunnies that may wander by!
