Nestled under a charming thatched roof, Hope Cottage has a wealth of original features. The roof structure is thought to date back to the medieval period. Beamed ceilings, exposed stonework, and a large fireplace create a cosy retreat all year-round. Despite its 16th-century origins, even tall guests enjoy ample headroom!
Through a lovely antique oak door, the kitchen features an old brick floor, range cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, and Belfast sink. Steps lead to the rear lobby, WC, and utility/boot room. Here you will find a dishwasher & washer/dryer and there is plenty of hanging space for coats and walking boots.
The dining area is a warm and welcoming space to enjoy meals together. A large table sits beneath the beamed ceiling, offering plenty of room for family or friends to share breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The lounge area beckons with its inviting, leather sofas that are perfect for curling up after a day of exploring. The focal point of the room is the wood burner, which not only adds warmth but also creates a delightful ambiance, especially during the winter months.
Upstairs are three bedrooms: a king-size master with warm tones, a twin room with elegant artwork, and a seaside-themed single. All rooms feature Victorian-style furnishings, soft throws, ample storage, USB sockets, and bedside lighting. The bathroom boasts a luxurious slipper bath and a Mira shower cubicle. A downstairs WC adds convenience. Bath sheets, hand towels and a bath mat are provided.
A few steps from the back door leads to a private courtyard, ideal for relaxing with a coffee or glass of wine. A short walk leads to a peaceful garden with valley views, a seating area, and a BBQ for sunny days.
One small or medium sized dog (over one year old) is welcome but must stay off furniture and remain downstairs. Walks are necessary as there is no immediate garden. The nearby cricket green is perfect for exercise, with dog waste bins available. Dogs should not be left unattended.
To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, we supply a full box of logs, along with kindling and eco-friendly firelighters. A complimentary refill of logs is provided during the winter, and additional supplies can be easily sourced from local supermarkets and petrol stations.
