If you have the chance to stay in the Poas region this is an amazing hotel to spend a couple of nights at. A comforting blend of Welsh country farmhouse and Frank Lloyd Wright architecture this is a place of rest and relaxation nestled into its surroundings. Curl up with your favourite book in the glass walled library with a tiny woodburner giving a cosy warm glow, add a glass of red wine and you will feel like you are welcomed into an English country house or head down to the pool table and games room after dinner. Friendly welcoming staff, lovely dinners (very reasonable pricing) means that everything is provided on site. We were only there for 2 nights and didn;t get to try the walking trails. The only improvement we could suggest would be a fridge in the rooms.

Staff was great. Everything about the property was great. Only issue is that the rooms had issues with fire ants. We had moved rooms because our first room had them all over the floor coming up through the wood planks. They had us Move to a different room that seem to not have them but when we woke up in the morning, they were everywhere. We were originally booked for one night, but decided to leave for the second night since my partner is severely allergic to fire ants. Other than the issue with the fire ants it was a really gorgeous property with wonderful views!

The property was beautiful! So quiet during our stay. Was able to hear some noise from other people staying in the room next to us but not horrible at all! Paola was so pleasant and sweet! Javier was Also top notch as well! We enjoyed our stay so much! Breath taking views! Homemade breakfast and dinner! Not much for children to do around the property. Would say it's mostly for an adult peaceful stay! 10/10.

Poas Volcano Lodge is a place that leaves you with lasting memories! From the incredible surroundings to the stunning interior that provides a “I wish this were my home” feel. We really enjoyed relaxing and reading our books in one of the several sitting areas. The wood burning stove added an extra warmth to the experience. The hiking trails right at the property were enjoyable. Having to navigate around the cows just added to the experience. We also enjoyed both the breakfast and dinner we had here. You could tell that they use fresh and locally sourced ingredients for the meals.

Sehr schöne Lage im Nebelwald mit eigenen Wanderwegen, die gut gepflegt und abwechslungreich sind (Nebelwald, Eichenwald, Weiden). Unser Zimmer Nr. 7 ist in die Jahre gekommen, insbesondere das Bad. Der Badewannen-Stöpsel war nicht dicht, sodass das Wasser leider nicht drin blieb und dies während unseres 2-tägigen Aufenthaltes auch nicht behoben werden konnte. Ein elektrischer Luftentfeuchter als auch ein Heizlüfter sind vorhanden, das Raumklima war in Ordnung.Die bereitgestellten Bettdecken waren warm genug für uns. Das Design und auch die Gemeinschaftsräume mit Kaminen haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Beim Check-in war die Begrüßung nicht besonders herzlich und die Informationen rar, z.B. wurden wir nicht darauf hingewiesen, dass für den Abend im Restaurant zwingend eine Uhrzeit reserviert werden muss (wir waren sehr froh, dass wir dennoch einen Platz bekamen - und wurden dort auch informiert, dass die Person an der Rezeption erkrankt war und die Dame dort eingesprungen war). Insgesamt herrschte Personalmangel auch im Restaurant, auch wenn dort alle sehr bemüht und freundlich waren und die Speisen lecker. Das Vorgehen mit dem Frühstück war etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig: man muss am Abend vorher ankreuzen, welche Eierspeise und wieviel Toast man möchte - und wenn man dann am Morgen mehr möchte, kostet es einen Aufpreis (wieviel, wissen wir nicht). Es gibt zusätzlich genug Obst und Granola sowie Joghurt. Aus unserer Sicht stimmt hier leider das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht.

We got room 6 which has the Wood burning fireplace and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was good at the lodge but would not recommend lunch or dinner. There are plenty of local authentic restaurants at short walking distance that would be better choice. The area around the lodge is very peaceful scenic and serene. We enjoyed our stay

Fantastic location with stunning views. The public areas are lovely, beautifully designed and immaculately clean. The restaurant was surprisingly upmarket, considering it's location half way up a mountain, and the food was tasty and well prepared. The garden rooms were understandably basic, but again well equipped and perfectly clean, although probably overdue an update to the bathrooms. The only real spoiler was the apparent lack of any soundproofing between the garden rooms, which allowed us to hear almost everything that was said and done in the rooms nextdoor. Notwithstanding this, it was a lovely spot to stay for a night and as a launchpad from which to visit both La Paz Waterfall Gardens and the Poas Volcano.
