Classy and clean renovations. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's conveniently located 1 block away from King street, which has a plethora of dining and shopping options. I was there on the weekend, so I parked on the street, which was convenient and free for me.

The hotel was very clean and neat with beautiful decor, rooms were very spacious and quiet and WiFi fast and reliable. Staff was very nice and cordial.

The Heron is a beautiful hotel. We stayed in the Heron King, and were very impressed. The bathroom, with real marble tile, a beautiful shower, and the provided soaps and lotions were amazing. We loved the Heron theme, down to the clothes closet with heron print, heron robe to use and even heron drink coasters. Rooftop bar is a MUST, we had cocktails there with a great view of the city. Ate breakfast in the Kiln, was awesome, with good sized portion, lots of bacon and really good sour dough toast. Free coffee in the lobby and very nice staff. It is a nice short walk to the restaurants and water front, Old Town is great to visit. We look forward to returning to the heron!!

Hotel Heron is situated in a walkable part of Old Town Alexandria. The room and bathroom were nice and comfortable. The housekeepers were lovely people who did a nice job. But….the rooftop bar was OFF. The cocktails were incorrect, the “fancy grilled cheese” was soft mini buns with pickles and cheese ( NOT grilled). Weird. The woman at check in insisted that the amenities fee was $137 PER DAY. I was tired from traveling and said I have written confirmation to the contrary but she was adamant. At the very least, she was a TERRIBLE communicator. At check out (different lady), the invoice was correct just like the written confirmation. Was an aggravating check in experience. The in room movie rental (my 8 year old wanted to watch something) was $22, yikes. He watched it for about 20 minutes. We learned the “amenities” were very expensive. The Lobby area was comfortable, the morning coffee set up was fine.

We loved everything about Hotel Heron. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, including the bathroom. We especially loved the Speakeasy and the rooftop bar and view! One of my coworkers recommended we stay here and she was spot on. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. My friend called the desk to ask where the ice machine was located and was told they would bring us some ice and they did.

Great area and easy walk to shops in Old Town. Staff generally polite and attentive. Lovely hotel furnishings and decor. On arrival, we specifically planned to arrive after check-in time to ensure the room would be ready, but unfortunately it wasn’t and we had to wait in the lobby lounge .. then the room we were allocated is in the adjacent building with a view out the window to a big brick wall and into other people’s windows so we kept the curtains closed. For 3 people with two double beds, the room was very small to move around. Overall lovely hotel but unfortunately room wasn’t quite up to expectation for the price paid.

The hotel was beautiful the rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel staff was very helpful. I think the only draw back was we were in 203W and our breakfast order was not picked up and we had to take it to the front desk in the morning. Also, we've always had our breakfast dishes picked up and that was not done either. Other than that A+

A Hidden Gem in Old Town Alexandria! From the moment we stepped into Hotel Heron, I truly felt like I was coming home. This beautifully restored landmark combines Old Town Alexandria’s rich history with a modern, vibrant energy that makes every moment feel special. The gym was absolutely fabulous—bright, well-equipped, and perfect for keeping up with my fitness goals during my stay. But the real showstopper? The rooftop bar and being able to catch the view of the sunset, just made it so much magical.... With its sweeping views and the incredible dining experience ( our waiter, Michael who gave us lots of pointers where to go and visit) it was a highlight I won’t soon forget. Every bite, every detail—just wow. Whether you’re staying for business or a weekend getaway, Hotel Heron is a standout destination. Just blocks from the Potomac, it’s perfectly located and radiates charm, sophistication, and comfort, quaint town.. safe to walk around at night. Can’t wait to return!
