Escape on the river

The Get-Away is nestled in a quiet cabin community right on the river with easy access to the two lane road. Enjoy pristine river views from the back deck, private river access and campfire right on the river bank.
The cabin is two bedroom one bath and sleeps 5 in two full beds and one twin. Perfect for couples or small family.
Kitchen is stocked with all the appliances and utensils you would have in the comfort of your home. Towels and linens provided.

We are pet friendly (dogs only, fee required).

-James W. Curry Library and Park, 2 mile drive
-Historic Helvetia, home of the Hutte Restaurant, 5 mile drive
-Pickens, host of the Maple Syrup Festival, 10 mile drive
-West Virginia Wildlife Center, 12 mile drive
-The town of Buckhannon where you will find grocery, pharmacy, restaurants, cinema, bowling, etc., 23 mile drive
-State parks around the area include Kumbrabow, Holly River, Audra and Stonewall Resort
-Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, (ski and snow tube) 47 mile drive
-Canaan Valley Ski Resort, (ski and snow tube) 74 mile drive

It's beautiful

This is one place in earth where you can truly reconnect with nature. Our boys played in the river until we made them get out. We have been here several times and will be there several more as it's our favorite vacation destination!

Wonderful get away spot!

Country Living

I was amazed by the beauty of the area and the cabin! The inside of the cabin was very clean and welcoming! The over all area is secluded enough away that you definitely need transportation to and from anywhere. Overall it was a great stay with my kids. We brought the ATVs for them to ride and they enjoyed the entire weekend without cellphones!!!

Cute Little Cottage

Had a great vacation visiting with old friends. The place is nice but could use a new back door. The gap at the top let in several bugs. There are other places nearby, but they’re far enough away for a degree of privacy. No reason we wouldn't return.

Wonderful getaway!

This was such a great stay! It was just me and my teenage daughter, who is used to busy city life. So to be basically in the middle of nowhere amd be surrounded by just nature was amazing. The house was so cozy and made us feel so welcome and inviting. Thank you Cheryl for letting us stay. I will be telling everyone about your place!!

We didn't stay. Directions sent us up a mountain for an hour and a half. The property wasn't even up there. I Did finally find the property. Property was in such disarray. Pictures did not match the property. The pictures show a some what nice house. Maybe at one time when the pictures were first taken. I have to show my misses where we are going first before I book a trip. When we pulled up to the house she looked at me and said I'm not staying here. This isn't what I saw in the pictures. This place is nasty. As much as I wanted to stay myself because I needed a couple days off the grid. I had to agree with her. We didn't even go in. We figured if the outside is this bad why bother. Now I drove over 6 hours to get there. It has to be pretty bad for me to turn around and leave. Then drive almost 3 hours more to find a hotel let alone one that will except dogs. I am requesting a full refund.

Perfection

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The cabin was exactly as advertised, spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need. Having coffee on the deck each morning with the incredible view and sound of the creek was heaven. We were so happy that we were able to bring our dogs. They enjoyed their time as much as we did. Cheryl is an excellent host, attentive and very understanding. We are planning an Autumn visit to enjoy the leaves. Highly recommend this property.

Get-away cabin

We really loved the cabin on the creek. It's really quiet and peaceful. And there are things to do not too far away. The water heater wasn't working well so they came out and put in a new one. Awesome owner!
